Position Description
The Billing Manager role is a mission critical role that directly impacts customer satisfaction by providing an effortless experience to both internal stakeholders and external customers. The role will manage a team responsible for both customer and internal service orders and is accountable for ensuring data integrity for each invoice. The right candidate will possess advanced analytical and decision-making skills. The Manager will oversee the Billing Experts team, and is responsible for recruiting, training, and mentoring those individuals. The Manager must be able to work across teams and develop her/his employees with the focus on driving an Effortless customer experience through solid order management and precise invoicing. The role not only manages Zayo’s billing processes but also gets exposure to and the ability to work with other departments such as service delivery, customer service, product, and finance. The role will be a valuable asset to the Zayo team as the go-to person for driving Billing processes and implementing transformational improvements, and has significant opportunities for growth and development within the company.
Responsibilities
Core duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Ownership of analyzing and reviewing complex service orders prior to invoicing to ensure data integrity and adherence to operational finance principles
- Manage monthly audits, data integrity initiatives, and start to finish monthly invoice review, process and deadlines
- Drive efficiencies & improvements within the Billing Experts team by utilizing Salesforce.com & data analysis tools
- Oversee & manage a team of Billing Experts through department-related and ancillary projects
- Thorough understanding of policies, procedures, and practices surrounding orders and invoicing and be an Expert resource for each while mentoring and training Billing Experts
- Own the accuracy of invoices to both internal and external customers
- Aptitude and desire for learning new/different processes within the company, with a drive to build a strong foundational skillset for a career at Zayo
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Accounting, Finance or Business
- 3-5 years’ Billing Support experience with exposure to multiple currencies preferred
- Experience managing a team required
- Advanced financial & analytical skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel a must, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite Applications
- Proven ability to lead a team and take ownership over the data sent to customers
- Knowledge of Salesforce.com and/or telecommunications billing systems and processes a plus
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, as well as manage a high-volume workload efficiently and effectively
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work extended hours (some evenings and weekends, when necessary) and achieve results in a deadline driven environment
- Extreme attention to detail and a passion for data
- High energy self-motivator with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
- Strong sense of teamwork and mentoring highly desired, with a drive for learning and growth
