Maxar Technologies has an immediate opening for a Financial Reporting Accountant in Westminster, Colorado. This individual will support the financial reporting and technical accounting teams. Primary responsibilities will be to assist in the preparation and review of SEC filings and document the accounting treatment for complex transactions.

• Preparation of quarterly filings, including Financial Statements, Proxy and Earnings Release
• Preparation of monthly cash flow statements
• Assist Investor Relations and Legal departments with quarterly earnings process
• Preparation of monthly stock compensation entries and associated reconciliations
• Review new contracts and assess the accounting implications based on existing accounting standards, interpretations or regulations
• Assist in the conversion from IFRS to US GAAP, and adoption of new accounting standards
• Communicate with various internal groups to gather relevant information for decision making related to proper accounting treatment for significant transactions
• Write technical memos supporting significant accounting positions
• Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, as needed, including assisting with internal and external audits and review
• Research accounting or reporting issues
• Perform special projects or duties as required within the finance department

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Public accounting experience required
• 2-4 years of relevant experience, including experience with financial reporting and complex technical accounting or revenue recognition issues
• Familiarity with GAAP, SEC and SOX requirements
• Proactive with an aptitude for process improvement
• High degree of accuracy and efficiency with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• US Citizen or permanent resident required
