Role Overview

Boom is building a world-class finance team to support its mission of restoring supersonic commercial flight. We are looking for a Financial Analyst, preferably with experience in a manufacturing environment, to be part of our growing finance team. The Financial Analyst will play a key role in ensuring that Boom’s financial resources are optimally invested in the development of our supersonic airliner. As the Financial Analyst you will help set and track budgets for Boom’s aircraft development programs and monitor financial performance.

Your primary responsibilities will be: maintaining the long term financial model, supporting preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts and variance analyses and modeling supplier and revenue deals to support analysis of the company’s financial decisions. The successful candidate would also help design and build world-class forecasting processes and safeguard the efficient use of resources through budget and expense analysis.

You will look at the aircraft program’s finances with a critical eye—trying to spot data anomalies, trends, or deviations—and introduce strategies for improvement. It will be your job to work with people across the company to drive cost efficiencies and improve the accuracy of the forecasting process. You should expect to be in the details as it relates to POs, order flows, cash disbursements, and how that all impacts the budget.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills, generating buy-in to support disciplined budgets and accurate forecasts. You should be technically skilled and mathematically inclined, while having the candor and tact to help a startup take the next step in financial maturity. You must be willing to roll up your sleeves and dive into the details to wrestle value out of financial forecasts. Experience working in a manufacturing environment or aerospace is preferred.

Working in a startup environment means taking on unexpected responsibilities and attempting tasks that no one in the company knows how to do. The successful candidate has a resourceful, can-do approach to these demands and enjoys the continuous learning curve of a startup.

The Financial Analyst will report to the Director, FP&A and support the CFO as a member of Boom’s growing finance team.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong analysis and financial modeling experience (advanced Excel skills)
  • Demonstrated success conducting analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to develop forecasts and budgets
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing
  • Ability to quickly understand technical and quantitative material
  • Ability to analyze financial data and review financial reports and account reconciliations
  • Experience supporting management teams with in-depth analysis
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or similarly analytical field of study
  • 2+ years of experience in investment banking or corporate development
  • 2+ years of corporate FP&A experience preferred
  • Prior procurement management experience and ability to operate within budget
  • Experience with Estimates at Completion (EAC) / Earned Value management (EVM)

Salary Range for this position is $80,000-$130,000 and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.
