Financial Analyst

Homebot is an exciting, fast-growing start-up, revolutionizing how homeowners build wealth with the single largest asset they’ll ever own -- their home.

We sell our platform services to real estate agents, lenders and loan servicers as a way to keep customers engaged long after the sale is complete.

We are growing rapidly and need an analytically-minded, incredibly detail-oriented and roll up the sleeves – Financial Analyst. The person that earns this role will get full visibility and ownership into the entire finance intelligence process – from accounting to banking to KPI dashboard creation through data queries to strategic decision support to the executive team. We believe that data analysis and recommendations are critical to strategic decision-making and future growth of the business. Please note that you must have experience working with SQL queries and databases to be considered for this role.

What’s more, in addition to the immediate finance and accounting needs, we have some “babysteps AI” opportunities that may afford this role an opportunity to do some serious data mining on some highly coveted and exclusive nationwide databases related to lending, real estate and homeownership intelligence.

If this opportunity gets you pumped - perfect! Apply below and we look forward to speaking with you soon.

Who We Strive To Be:

  • Servant Leaders: Serving our teammates and customers first, with the purpose of enabling and supporting them to do great work

  • Learners: We learn and share from resources, experiences and mistakes

  • One Team: We support each other and decisions made

Characteristics you possess:

  • Incredibly consistent, detail-oriented and accurate

  • Strategic perspective, excellent business judgment and deep analytical capabilities

  • Strong need to “know the data truth” at all times that underlies the business’ most critical KPIs

  • Ability to explore databases to build accurate KPIs (using front end GUI-based querying tools or direct SQL querying)

  • While most business people cry at the thought of creating pivot tables, you see the entire world around you in pivot tables

  • You could be a product advisor to the MS Excel or Google Sheets product teams

  • Willingness to continuously develop, understand industry best practices and desire to stay ahead of the curve

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling and disseminating information

  • Must be a self-starter that shows ownership and commitment to the job

What you will do and what you may have done in the past:

  • Develop and maintain effective business models supported by financial assumptions – including our company’s financial forecast and SAAS revenue forecast

  • Perform general accounting and banking activities (A/P, month-end close, revenue recognition, expense reports, journal entries, reconciliations)

  • Prepare month-end and year-end financial statements

  • Develop sales quotas and incentives and calculate ongoing sales commissions

  • Create a consistent, technology-driven KPI dashboard

  • Manage and deliver reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide appropriate visibility into operating metrics and establish accountability for achieving goals

  • Write and maintain custom queries in SQL (and data scrubbing) in addition to reporting metrics out of other tools such as Google Analytics (web) and Mailchimp (email)

  • Administer stock option grants and other duties as needed

  • Bonus:  we have access to data about every home in The United States regarding certain real estate, lending and financial data.  We also gather some data from users. We have opportunity to create new features for our product that may benefit from deep analyses of some of these data.  This role will have the opportunity to be a ground-floor contributor to those efforts by identifying, analyzing and interpreting trends or patterns in these broad and complex data sets

Miniumum Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, statistics and/or related fields

  • 3-5 years in a Financial Analyst or similar role

  • Start-up company experience strongly desired

  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, Google Sheets and familiarity with Quickbooks or comparable accounting system

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with business databases

  • Experience with GUI-based SQL tools and/or direct SQL query writing; and BI/reporting tools a bonus (we don’t currently have any real BI tools but do use Metabase and Heroku’s DataClips front-end querying tools).

Perks & Benefits:

  • Experienced leadership team with success in multiple exits

  • Health benefits, 401K & Paid Parking

  • Flexible vacation policy- we believe in taking care of yourself

  • Opportunities for growth!

More About Homebot!

Problem we're solving:

The US homeownership market is the largest asset class in the world at $30 trillion but is essentially an “unmanaged” asset that causes homeowners to leave billions of dollars on the table every year.  At the same time, loan officers and real estate agents spent $20 billion a year on desperate attempts to maintain mindshare and loyalty with their past clients in hopes of gaining more repeat and referral business.

Our Solution:

Each month, Homebot delivers a personalized report to homeowners that tracks home value, mortgages and market conditions, advice about when to buy or sell, when to refinance, when to drop mortgage insurance, how to save by strategically paying principal payments, and even estimates potential rental income from Airbnb.  Homebot helps homeowners build wealth faster by making them feel empowered and confident about making smart home finance decisions.

But the only way a homeowner can get Homebot is from their lender or real estate agent, and this is where we make magic happen.  Homebot respects the existing relationships between homeowner, lender and real estate agent and becomes a machine for generating repeat and referral business while creating incredible loyalty by providing something their clients actually love to receive - every month.

It’s definitely a game-changer and we are truly making an impact. Join our team and help us make a larger impact!

* We realize your time is very valuable. Please do not apply if you do not have the minimum experience for this role. Thank you! *
