Role Overview

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for important areas of the monthly close that are vital to the accounting department and are of prominent importance to the company.  The Financial Accountant will take ownership of their duties and will be a key member of a growing accounting team working to increase the speed of the monthly close and serve as a resource to the needs of the business.  Over time, the Financial Accountant will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of critical accounting functions.   

Responsibilities: 

  • Understand, evaluate, and account for complex areas and transactions, including equity, investments, interest, taxes, etc.  
  • Prepare and analyze accounting records and financial statements to assess accuracy and completeness and adherence to US GAAP requirements
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs and revenues to ensure proper and consistent accounting treatment
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries
  • Prepare, maintain, and continually improve detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Take ownership of controls under your purview
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors
  • Keep up to date on accounting knowledge
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for working in a high paced environment and constantly learning through exposure to new areas
  • Excellent initiative and ability to analyze, question and summarize data for decision making
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience interacting with upper management and operations personnel
  • Strong knowledge of the company’s general ledger and appropriate coding within those accounts
  • Strong inclination to prepare for and comply with deadlines around the monthly close cycle
  • Ability to work within multiple systems including GL, PO, invoice processing system, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Aptitude to be responsive and helpful, both within the department and to other departments
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, with a desire to identify and own regular improvements
  • Support the Accounting Manager and other members of the accounting department while fulfilling core responsibilities
  • Proficient with spreadsheets, including advanced functionality
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years prior public accounting experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or aerospace business is a plus
  • Experience with general ledger and ERP software is a plus

Compensation: 

  • Base salary range for this position is $75,000- $90,000 and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position
  • Robust equity program with significant upside potential
  • Open PTO
