We provide ecommerce controller and bookkeeping services combined with the accounting cloud tools, design, and management necessary to be our customers' complete accounting department.

Intro from the owners

The Ecommerce Controller is a dynamic and critically important, client-facing position. You will be immersed in the financials of each client's business and should be able to confidently translate technical financial details to online entrepreneurs and small business owners, so it makes sense to them.

You will also need strong leadership ability to be able to train, guide, and mentor your clients' ecommerce accountants in collaboration with a team of other Ecommerce Controllers. If you have the experience and skills to run a mini-business, and have the aptitude to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and team environment, this role would be a good fit for you.

What does a Ecommerce Controller do at Catching Clouds?
- Oversees and trains ecommerce accountants to ensure quality of the customers' financial data and records.
- Handles more complex bookkeeping transactions, including advanced journal entries.
- Reviews sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, and other necessary filings to ensure accuracy.
- Reviews financials monthly and facilitates closing of the books.
- Monitors process to ensure that accounting systems remain effective and efficient; implements and documents system changes when appropriate.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Client-facing responsibilities for an Ecommerce Controller
- Monitors trends in customers' data and offers advice to customers to help them reach their financial goals.
- Ensures customers' questions and concerns are resolved quickly and professionally.
- Identifies potential operational issues for customers as their businesses grow (such as new nexus issues, business licensing concerns, etc.)
- Acts as liaison with customers' tax advisors to ensure income tax returns are filed (by the tax advisors) quickly and accurately.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising upper management and/or customers on needed actions.

Requirements
Our Ecommerce Controller must have these skills:
- 5+ years experience overseeing accounting for multiple businesses
- Ability to easily navigate and learn new technology
- Advanced understanding of accounting
- Intermediate understanding of tax implications of financials for the business owners
- Ability to dive deep to solve problems but with the self awareness to come up for air, re-evaluate and ask for help if needed
- Personable with good sense of humor
- Ability to self-direct activities
- Ability to set and meet deadlines
- Good attention to detail
- Good communication with co-workers and clients
- Confidential and professional
- Team player
- Licensed Colorado Certified Public Accountant

If you're applying for this Ecommerce Controller job, having these skills is a real plus!:
- Experience with cloud accounting tools like Xero, Bill.com, Gusto, Hubdoc, TSheets
- Some tax experience preferred
- GAAP experience preferred
- Sales tax preparation experience
- Payroll experience

Although some experience is needed, we are mainly interested in finding a candidate with right mindset of a problem solver and hard worker, more so than years of experience.

The job is virtual, so you will work where you are - but you must be available for regular team meetings and lunches in Parker, CO, as needed. Relocation services are not provided.
