The Director, Financial Reporting Systems is responsible for supporting enterprise-wide financial reporting systems and data analysis. As the subject matter expert over financial reporting systems, the Director will also directly support the development and rollout of technology (OneStream) used to report both internally and externally. This position is responsible for proactively leading and coordinating all Maxar Corporate level reporting work-streams (including building a process around system data analysis used in account reconciliation) and supporting the functional teams across the finance organization, including Financial Planning and Analysis. The Director, Financial Reporting Systems is a key role with the Controllership group and will report to the Sr Director, Accounting Transformation and Financial Systems.

The position requires an experienced leader with sound knowledge of accounting close and reporting processes, an understanding of public company financial reporting deliverables, a strong business acumen, and user based experience of technology solutions used by accounting and finance. Specifically, we require experience with Hyperion/ Essbase, SQL, Crystal Reporting, Business Objects, Dodeca (or similar solutions). The Director will proactively work with functional leaders across Accounting and Finance to define and implement best practices over financial reporting and related internal controls.
The ideal candidate is both results oriented and mindful of tight and strict deadlines typically associated with a monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting process. This is a hands-on position with at least 1 direct report – individual must have a track record of delivering extensive reporting solutions.

 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as subject matter expert over financial reporting systems’ development and maintenance, including but not limited to OneStream Financial Consolidation and Reporting Solution (Maxar’s consolidation tool),
  • Support the development of and own the consolidation framework that ensures accurate consolidation and financial reporting,
  • Maintain process to ensure integrity of chart of accounts and related cross mapping between financial systems,
  • Manage data over OneStream-based forecast, budget, and actual results,
  • Ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation and providing recommendations as appropriate, 
  • Drive ongoing efforts focused on streamlining, improving, and automating processes within the systems,
  • Prioritize, delegate, manage and deliver on key Finance and Accounting initiatives,
  • Effectively communicate project risks/issues with proposed solutions,
  • Provide guidance and knowledge to direct report(s) on the completion of duties,
  • Liaison between Accounting and Finance organizations and the IT Department,
  • Responsible for Vendor relationship management relative to financial systems solutions.

 

 

Basic Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, with experience in accounting information systems and financial reporting (public company/ SEC registrant experience highly preferred)
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in accounting information systems with a focus on consolidations and financial reporting
  • Experience managing, developing, mentoring experienced systems and reporting staff
  • Extensive experience with Hyperion/Essbase, SQL, Crystal Reporting, Business Objects, Dodeca and/or similar solutions
  • Established track record as a key decision maker on solutions required to implement OneStream (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as SEC reporting requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) or equivalent
  • Ability to travel within the US and internationally as needed

  • Able to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, as well as work effectively in a demanding, dynamic environment to meet overall objectives,
  • Experience prioritizing and managing a portfolio of process improvement projects and delivering results
  • High level of personal integrity, ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity in high-pressure, high-stress situations
  • Ability to drive through challenges and persuade others in order to effectively deliver on commitments
  • Must exhibit excellent analytical skills and is able to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve system issues occurring within the financial consolidation tool (OneStream)
  • Comfortable troubleshooting, identifying and working to resolve system issues in a variety of customized accounting information system environments
