About Wunder

Wunder was founded with one simple vision: to address the greatest crisis of our generation by accelerating the proliferation of solar energy. Members of our team have raised hundreds of millions of dollars in private equity, developed innovative energy infrastructure solutions for the Department of Energy, and built digital products that are used and loved by millions of people. Now, we’re saving the world.

Our team is a unique hybrid of finance, engineering, design, and business development. Although our backgrounds and responsibilities vary wildly, we’re a tight-knit bunch that loves cross-pollination. And while our mission is big, we try to keep things light. We provide a happy, productive workplace, and we’re constantly improving it! You’ll find us hustling on the job while also cycling, hiking, boarding, skiing, camping, and dining all over our mile-high home; Colorado.

Wunder is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive workplace in which all employees have an opportunity to participate and contribute to the success of the business. At Wunder, people are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives. Our commitment to equity is of course embodied in company policy, but it’s also evident every day in how we conduct business and the programs we provide.

The Role

We have an amazing opportunity for a detail-oriented and financially-minded leader to solve hard problems and push renewable energy forward.

Specifically, you’ll work in partnership with Wunder’s Account Management team to finance commercial-scale solar projects across the country. You’ll evaluate offtaker credit, model system production and cash flows, perform detailed project diligence, and structure compelling financing packages. You’re motivated by digging into complex financial models and ensuring all of the details needed to finance solar projects are in place. You'll go beyond a traditional finance role as you will create new organizational systems and processes that will help move us closer to our goal.

If you get excited about bringing an entirely new asset class to market, closing million-dollar deals every week, building an organization aimed at saving the world, and ensuring that all of the financial details needed to make this happen are covered, this is the role for you.

Compensation: $130k - $150k/year + equity, based on experience

About You

  • Financial Transaction Experience - You have 6+ years of underwriting, project finance, or other experience relevant to evaluating technical investment opportunities. You have experience managing commercial transactions in either a lending or investment capacity, and you’re confident building complex financial models, structuring compelling financing packages, and autonomously running complex problems to the ground. You excel at communicating difficult financial concepts.

  • Quantitative, Analytical & Deal-Oriented - You’re an Excel guru with an analytical, quantitative mind. You’re comfortable taking ownership over spreadsheets and nothing beats developing elegant, analytical solutions to complex problems.

  • You Have a Product Mindset - You’re not looking for a traditional underwriting role. You’re passionate about using technology to standardize commercial solar, and you’re excited about partnering with Product & Engineering to shape our underwriting technology strategy for years to come.

  • You Do What It Takes - Evaluating transactions, assessing risk, and refining our practices will be at the core of your role, however, occasionally you may find yourself interfacing with investors or customers. You’re comfortable representing our team and our risk posture both internally and externally.

  • Autodidact - Although you don't need extensive experience in solar, you should be adept at filling in your knowledge gaps and getting up the learning curve on new subjects quickly.

  • You have a Team Ethos - You thrive in a creative, inventive, fast-paced startup environment, with people who are passionate about their work and mission. You’re not just excited to work cross- functionally, you demand it.

  • You’re Flexible, a Quick Responder - The problem we’re trying to solve as an organization is dynamic and each day brings fresh and exciting challenges. You can react quickly and efficiently when called upon to change or pivot.

  • You Believe That No Problem is Too Hard - In an industry where people are constantly stuck, we find ways to get it done. You know how to articulate and roll out solutions, recognizing there are many solutions to the same problem. You find new and effective ways to streamline and create processes to increase efficiency.
