Director of Corporate Development
This is a unique opportunity for a rising M&A professional to create and lead a corporate development function at a private equity backed SaaS company. We are seeking a driven leader with experience sourcing and executing acquisitions to join us as our Director of Corporate Development. FluentStream is highly acquisitive and desires to accelerate its pace of acquisition by developing a sophisticated corporate development function.
Reporting to the CEO, you will play a key role in contributing to the strategy, business evolution, and long-term success of FluentStream as a key business partner to the leadership team. You will lead the Company’s efforts for market research, company evaluation, sourcing, structuring, due diligence, financial modeling, valuation analysis and deal negotiation.
The desired candidate will have a background in corporate development, private equity and/or investment banking, combined with experience in B2B SaaS. You will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact as you will work collaboratively across functions to identify, evaluate and navigate some of our most mission critical strategic initiatives. You will work closely with the CEO and the rest of the leadership team.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. The ideal candidate enjoys diving deep into complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Lead in the identification, development, analysis and successful execution of M&A transactions. Be the expert in all facets of M&A, including sourcing, negotiations, and execution.
- Facilitate and drive sound, data driven decision making, including at the highest level within the organization. We expect you to drive towards outcomes that are in the company’s best interest, including arguing against bad deals, and to always keep focus on the end goal.
- Accelerate FluentStream’s growth through leading disciplined M&A deal execution.
- Research industry participants and competitive landscape, conduct in-depth company evaluations to uncover risks and opportunities, and investigate industry trends relevant to FluentStream’s business.
- Evaluate target companies for financial, operational and strategic fit and the impact of the potential transaction on business strategy.
- Draft, evaluate and summarize confidential information, term sheets, purchase agreements, financial statements, and other related materials.
- Lead cross-functional teams to ensure the timely completion of valuations, diligence and integration planning.
- Ensure that business and economic standards are being achieved; certifying deal return on investment, advising leadership on deal financial risks and return, making final financial recommendations in a clear and confident manner and once approved, flawlessly executing the transactions.

- 3+ years experience in investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, corporate development and/or private equity in the technology industry
- Experience with SaaS companies highly desired
- Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills
- Experience executing buy side control transactions with small business owners
- Strong business analyst skills with a track record of finding and building business cases for new growth opportunities and investments.
- Ability to apply sophisticated and effective financial and analytical frameworks.
- Experience in all areas of mergers & acquisitions , including project management, problem-solving, executive communication, board communication and consensus building.
- Must be able to be highly efficient in an unstructured, fast-paced and team oriented environment.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously with multiple types of business partners.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for business purposes
