The Opportunity

DAT Freight & Analytics is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join our growing Finance & Accounting team in Denver, CO. 

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will provide advanced analytical support to the overall business with a focus on financial outcomes, leveraging data analysis derived from disparate systems and sources to tell fact-based, compelling stories in a clear and concise manner.  Where necessary, you will leverage advanced data modeling and statistical analysis techniques to evaluate scenarios and business decisions.  As a secondary priority, this position will make detailed recommendations back to data engineering teams and business stakeholders on the development of new data models and/or business processes that establish instrumentation and visibility necessary to build effective analyses in the future

Candidate profile

  • Able to view the big picture and identify and highlight key drivers, leveraging data to tell a compelling story.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to ask the next “why”, connect the dots, and solve problems.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and the aptitude to communicate with all levels of management, using data analysis and visuals to tell a compelling story with clear “so what” and “what now” takeaways.
  • Advanced data modeling / statistical analysis capabilities and prior experience in market analysis, leveraging internal and external data sources to establish conclusions on key factors that impact business results.
  • A self-starter who is adept at managing multiple projects and deliverables.
  • Business partnering: proven ability to develop strong partnerships with internal customers, peers and able to effectively manage those relationships.
  • Cross-functional dependencies: experience effectively working across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge with proactive engagement.
  • Critical thinking: leverage analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity, and change in a dynamic business environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Proactively partner with a variety of stakeholders across DAT, driving effective collaboration and business decisions through detailed analysis and an evaluation of the resulting business impact.
  • Use statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction of critical business results.
  • Analyzing local, national, and global trends that impact both the organization and the industry
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Assigning numerical value to essential business functions so that business performance can be assessed and compared over periods of time.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from internal business partners and senior management in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy.
  • Help design and maintain standard formats for data capturing in support of instrumentation efforts that unlock future analyses and insights.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Working with programmers, engineers, and management to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies.

The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and reach defensible conclusions is required
  • Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively, proactively communicating any deviation from the given timeframe.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Oracle, R, MATLAB, and Python is required
  • Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
  • Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analyzing
  • Advanced skills in Excel is required (database management, dynamic tables, graphs, etc...).
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite capabilities.
  • Familiarity with our tool stack is a plus: Excel PowerPivot, SQL, Python, Tableau, Business Objects, Salesforce.
  • Enterprise SaaS experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the logistics transportation industry is a plus.

(Colorado only) In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $121,000, plus benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience.
