Skupos is seeking a Controller to own the day-to-day management of all financial and accounting activities and the timely and accurate preparation of our monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Post our Series B financing, led by Insight Venture Partners, we are looking to add a Controller that will build a world class accounting function that can scale with the growth of Skupos.

The Controller will interface with the VP of Finance as well as other members of the management team and respond to requests from investors to contribute to the strategic and tactical direction of Skupos. This position will run a lean team responsible for A/P, A/R, payroll, invoicing, treasury, tax, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate thinks and acts like an owner of the business, is organized, can optimize technology, is able to anticipate issues as the company grows and is willing to play a critical role in the development of the organization. This role will require someone who is comfortable in an ambiguous environment and can build the right team and processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly & annual financial close process, ensuring timely reporting & analysis of monthly financial statements
• Manages all aspects of accounting operations including financial reporting, collections and payables, fixed assets, stock option accounting and revenue recognition
• Asses the status of our current accounting, payroll, and expense processes and systems and lead the implementation of new processes and systems that allow Skupos to scale
• Responsible for all accounting transactions, accounting research, drafting of accounting position and policy papers, as needed, to ensure adherence to GAAP and other accounting regulations
• Responsible for the development, monitoring and enforcement of accounting policies and internal financial controls
• Lead and coordinate the financial audit and preparation of audited financial statements, coordination of income tax returns and outside valuation analysis
• Provide substantial support in preparation of the monthly financial reporting package distributed to investors and quarterly board meetings
• Prepare calculation of monthly commissions
• Partner with the VP of Finance to own and manage our treasury strategy
• Responsible for building, leading & evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA or CPA
• Experience working as a Controller, ideally at a SaaS company, with exemplary performance
• Progressive experience over the previous 8+ years with a minimum of 3 years involved in a senior accounting role and 3 years of management experience
• Experience in public accounting
• Deep fluency with accounting, tax, revenue, and payroll software
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills including problem identification, analysis, action planning and execution
• Excellent time management, communications, decision making, human relations and organization skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and solve problems
• Collaborative personality with a keen ability to support cross-functional projects and decisions.
• Gets energized from working within a team and cross-functionally to achieve the company's goals
