Wurk is looking for a top tier controller to join our growing accounting and finance department. This individual will be a key contributor, owning several critical functions while reporting to the director of finance & accounting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail oriented and is passionate about accounting and tax.
What you need to accomplish:
- Within the first 30 days, the Controller will need to understand the processes and procedures used to run the day-to-day operations of the accounting functions at Wurk.
- Within the first 90 days, begin to take over the financial reporting and analysis functions.
- Own journal entries, internal and external monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, annual audits, revenue recognition and budgets.
- Own federal and state tax filings and compliance as well as sales and use tax reporting.
- Treasury / cash management, including cash reporting and forecasting
- Own the monthly and year end close processes.
- Assist in the complication of the corporate income tax compliance through accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns, taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
- Establishment and maintenance of procedures and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.
- Oversee and approve our internal payroll.
- Participation in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; master’s degree in accounting is a plus
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting and tax experience
- 3+ years as an assistant controller or controller
- 3+ years of hands on experience in revenue recognition, state tax filings and sales and use tax.
- CPA required
- Experience with QuickBooks online and/or proficiency in MS Excel
- Superb communication skills and ability to collaborate with others
- Accounting experience in a SaaS environment is required
