The Opportunity

The successful candidate will be adaptable and succeed in a fast-paced environment while also building efficient processes to ensure accurate financial statements. 

The individual must thrive in a hands-on environment creating and running day-to-day processes, and eventually managing a team. The role will have broad responsibilities for financial accounting, operational accounting, treasury management, audit and tax.

Position reports to the VP of Finance.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage all accounting operations, including AR collections, AP controls, treasury, payroll
  • Coach, inspire and lead a growing accounting team
  • Manage accuracy of financial statements, reconciliations and journal entries
  • Handle and drive improvements in monthly close process
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including reporting on financial covenants
  • Responsible for audits including year-end financial statement audit, periodic bank audits, and additional ad hoc compliance items
  • Advises team regarding the handling of non-routine transactions
  • Work closely with other departments to transform processes such as automation of billing and revenue
  • Interface with various external business professionals including tax professionals, valuation firms, law firms, lenders, vendors, clients etc.
  • Responsible for tax strategy and filings, including compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Provide technical guidance surrounding changes in business and upcoming accounting regulations, including preparation of accounting policies and technical memos (eg. ASC 606)
  • Work closely with FP&A to provide reporting and support as needed
  • Work with vendors and partners to negotiate optimal terms

The Skill Set

  • Superb technical accounting knowledge
  • Demonstrated success in high-growth environment, including process development, implementation, and execution
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively lead and influence staff across all levels, functions, and external constituencies
  • Proficient with software applications (Word, Excel) including the use of VLookup Pivot Tables, and other Excel functions as well as ambition to learn internal systems
  • Ability to work with limited supervision; highly self-motivated with the ability to produce creative solutions
  • Highly organized, meticulously attentive to detail, and able to set priorities
  • Anticipates and meets business demands in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA (current)
  • 7+ years progressive accounting experience
  • Quickbooks experience
  • Tax experience
  • M&A experience
  • A combination of public accounting and experience in a small to medium sized company (public company experience a plus).
  • Demonstrated success in high-growth environment, including process development, implementation, and execution
  • Experience in implementing new financial systems, including ERP
