As an integral member of the Apostrophe’s accounting and finance team, you’ll be responsible for leading the Company’s monthly close and reporting process while working closely with the Company’s CFO to ensure the Company is efficiently and effectively executing on its growth initiatives.  The ideal candidate must have experience managing teams, be extremely detail oriented, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be comfortable working in and adapting to a high-paced growth environment. You’ll also have a unique opportunity to collaborate with the Product Management and Operations teams to help optimize cash flows and member experience around claims reconciliation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate, complete and timely recording of all transactions

  • Manage all cash flows across the Company’s operational and member float accounts

  • Oversee and assist with account reconciliations to ensure 100% accuracy of the Company’s customer and member funding requests

  • Execute timely accounting close processes and publish monthly financial statements complete with appropriate operating metrics, discussion and analysis

  • Collaborate with the Product Management and Operations teams to define requirements necessary to accelerate claims reconciliations and cash flows while optimizing the member experience

  • Provide reporting and analysis that will help the company proactively monitor its performance and achieve its financial objectives

  • Implement necessary software and process improvement to optimize efficiency and member experience

  • Actively participate in cross functional team reviews to address tactical issues and drive strategic initiatives

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

  • Prepare regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

  • Lead annual audit process

  • Complete technical accounting research and memo preparation

  • Assist with the development of the budget and forecasting models

  • Support necessary debt and equity fundraising processes

  • Assist with human resources and other special projects on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications

  • CPA with 5+ years of relevant accounting experience

  • Prior in-house operating experience

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (including researching and implementing relevant accounting technical standards), accounting processes and internal controls

  • A passion for the details and an ability to explain them

  • Extremely detail oriented and a high level of intellectual curiosity

  • Desire to drive continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated ability to document and improve processes

  • High level of proficiency with both Google (Slides, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) suite of applications

  • Prior experience with QuickBooks

  • Demonstrated self-starter comfortable working in an evolving and fast-paced growth environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative spirit
