About the Team

The Accounting team seeks to support Sovrn growth by ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and a strong and sustainable internal control environment. Our goal is to contribute to Sovrn at multiple levels by combining strong accounting and business senses, while subscribing to Sovrn mission and values.

About the Job

You’ll lead the general accounting function, managing the day-to-day work, providing guidance and coaching to the team, working closely with Sales, Operations and Finance and oversee the monthly accounting close. In addition, you’ll ensure that the financial control environment is strong, sustainable and supportive of a dynamic and growing business.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage all accounting (with some hands-on work) including: A/R, A/P, revenue recognition, fixed asset management, inventory accounting, commission calculations, month end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a high performing, efficient and productive accounting team.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements through the maintenance of well-organized and structured accounts and records.
  • Manage the federal, state and local tax filing process.
  • Responsible for oversight and consolidation of the companies foreign subsidiary(ies), including understanding of GAAP-IFRS differences.
  • Supervises the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements, insurance coverage and reporting requirements reports and other reports required by government regulation.
  • Provide support and administration for the company’s critical financial systems, including general ledger (Netsuite), equity management, payment systems, expense reporting and banking
  • Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Interface with outside auditors, tax professionals and other consultants.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with management and staff identifying and developing solutions to a full-range of business issues.

About You

You are driven and have proven the ability to manage small, nimble and high performing teams. You have experience and expertise in general and technical accounting gained in a combination of public accounting and private company experience. We value committed, detail-oriented and thoughtful individuals who bring operational excellence as well as a creative, mindful approach to their work.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An aptitude and eagerness for working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions of the organization. We’re looking for someone with strategic and operational financial experience who understands the needs of an evolving organization.
  • 8-10 years in an accounting role, including 5+ years experience in an accounting leadership role with a recent focus on quickly growing organizations.
  • Strongly preferred CPA and 3+ years in public accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience with NetSuite and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Prior experience in a high growth technology company.
  • Experience with setting up and managing international accounting with foreign entities and managing providers.
  • Proactively review current procedures and make recommendations for improvements with consideration to the key stakeholders in the organization
  • Prior experience with implementing operational and financial metrics and controls within a technical business.
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP principles and compliance.
  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance.
