Strategist

FIS’ Securities Derivatives and Tax business provides mission-critical software and services to institutions engaged in derivatives and securities processing, securities finance and tax processing. Within the Capital Markets Division, our team members located across the globe focus on supporting industry participants in tier 1-4 banks, broker dealers, asset managers and wealth managers.  

Across our product lines, we provide professional services that focus on standard application implementations, upgrades, ongoing application support, technical and general consulting services, which ranges from process automation, system integration to ongoing product configuration, as just a few examples.

What you will be doing

As a member of the Commercial Management team within Securities, Derivatives and Tax business unit, the Strategist will work closely with sales and the business to define and implement FIS long-term market, competitive differentiation and product and pricing strategies that ensure the growth, viability and financial success of the Corporation.  Additionally this individual will be involved in managing the interlock process between sales and the business through tool development and analysis around revenue conversion. 

This position is responsible for a broad range of activities to ensure the business objectives of the team are attained.  He / She is crucial member of a dynamic, fast-paced team that thrives in a busy and challenging environment - they will work closely with leaders across the organization as well as Business partners.  This individual will have a proven record of excellence operating independently and within a high performing team environment, delivering strong thought leadership and strategic thinking. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is not only passionate about FIS, but seeks to gain deep knowledge of the broader technology organization, communications and new types of engagement techniques, as well as gain exposure to and insight from senior leadership.

This is an advanced professional individual contributor role requiring extensive skill and proficiency. Works independently with only administrative supervision on highly complex projects with latitude for independent judgment. Expected to mentor others on staff and is a role model for rest of team. Effectively communicates with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to provide communication on issues or complex information to a wide audience based on knowledge.  Develops, documents and implements standards, guidelines, direction and educates others on process/procedures. Resolves complex issues requiring in depth knowledge and skills.  Exercises judgment in decision making, determines approach, methods and procedures to use on new assignments.  May coordinate and guide work of others. 

Requires a minimum of seven to ten years of experience in strategy, consulting, product, marketing, or finance in the financial services technology industry.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, tenacious, and not afraid of the detail – they must have a demonstrated ability in influencing, great collaborative mindset, and strong leadership above band level.  We are looking for a strong relationship builder that has great commitment and energy to support broader team dynamics, engagement and unity. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in sales and finance interlock, including campaign tracking and ROI measures to improve accuracy of Revenue forecasts.

  • Provide pricing for more complex transactions which may include a combination of software, professional services, hosting and business process outsourcing.  Pricing includes profitability analysis and other performance metrics.

  • Identify opportunities and develop pricing tools to improve automation allowing sales to self-serve where appropriate. 

  • Work collaboratively across business units and functions including Product Management, Professional Services, Client Services and Managed Services. 

  • Support sales team in commercial terms, negotiating strategies and contract negotiations.    

  • Identify process improvement opportunities to drive efficiencies in response time to clients as well as accelerate approval processes.

  • Ensure best practices for deal structures are being followed, including active education of key stakeholders when needed.

  • Thoughtfully synthesize and present analysis and pricing recommendations for complex deals to senior leadership.

  • Review and interpret prior contract terms and billing statements when needed, to determine commercial terms.

  • Analyze pricing trends in the market and benchmark studies in a rapidly changing landscape.

  • Actively engage with offshore commercial management team.

  • Other related duties assigned as needed.

  • Team player, comfortable working in “white space” and willing to take on incremental responsibilities

  • Sound business judgment and a global perspective.

  • Exceptional analytical, financial modeling and problem-solving skills (with ability to understanding drivers and impacts), as well as written and oral communication skills.

  • Expert MS Excel financial modeling skills required (macros and pivot tables preferred)

  • Strong sense of integrity with ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain complete confidentiality.

  • Experience working in a large/matrixed environment

  • Executive level deck development / strong PPT experience

  • 7+ years of Experience: strategy, consulting, product, marketing, or finance in the financial services technology industry

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s or MBA preferred in a relevant discipline
