Position Summary

Reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller will be a key member of the Finance organization and will be directly responsible for coordinating the company’s financial close processes, ensuring appropriate financial reporting, leading the external audit and establishing policies, controls and procedures within the Accounting function. The role is also responsible for the entire Order-to-Cash cycle, ultimately ensuring the proper recognition and reporting of revenue.

The candidate must be a leader, have experience in managing teams, be detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and be hands-on.  This full-time role will interface daily with internal departments and upper management and the ideal candidate is detail-orientated and enjoys working in a fast-paced, high growth environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage the monthly and quarterly financial close activities by running a disciplined close process and coordinating activities and analysis with teams across the finance organization.
  • Drive the general ledger accounting and consolidation processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, closing, statements, analysis and schedules.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, revenue, collections, and treasury.
  • Participate in the development of strategies to improve accounting operations effectiveness, including the development and execution of organizational, process and system changes.
  • Establishes and maintains internal controls and policies to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements and establish best practices.
  • Assist with technical accounting issues including the supporting the preparation of key accounting issue memos.
  • Provides interpretation and application of accounting procedures, principles and pronouncements in accordance with GAAP, including review and interpretation of customer contracts to implement revenue tracking, reporting and analysis
  • Interacts closely with Sales department, coordinating communications on all items related to billing and revenue, and customer relationships. 
  • Work directly with finance, sales and service delivery on a daily basis as it relates to contracts with customers. 
  • Responsible for the internally developed revenue system and implementation of updates to maintain compliance with all new revenue guidance. 
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of annual audits with our external auditors
  • Supervises and develops staff through hands-on training, guidance and performance reviews. 
  • Develop staff goals and key performance indicators to measure performance and ensure the department is performing at a high level 
  • Continuously reviews processes for ongoing improvement. 

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with revenue accounting rules and practices 
  • Advanced Excel skills 
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. 
  • Strong work ethic – ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a demanding detail-oriented environment. 
  • Self-motivated, time efficient and proactive with ability to work under minimum supervision. 
  • Confident in dealing with customers and senior management. 
  • Enthusiastic team player with desire to train/mentor, and willing to assist others where necessary. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department staff, supervisory personnel, associates, vendors and the general public. 

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA (preferred) with 10+ years’ experience in accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting, including revenue recognition and internally developed software
  • Experience with M&A support
  • Leadership and people-management skills
  • ERP design/implementation/administration experience highly preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all areas and levels of the company
