POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Assistant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions of ArcherDX. This is a hands-on role based in Boulder. This person will lead our existing accounting team by improving internal processes, managing month-end close, mentoring team members, providing internal financial analyses, and monitoring and enforcing internal controls. A successful Assistant Controller will possess a strong attention to detail, strong organizational, and critical thinking skills.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Job performance will involve a variety of activities including:

  • Provide leadership and management for ArcherDX’s accounting functions
  • Maintain best practices across general accounting and financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and laws
  • Manage financial month-end close process; coordinate team efforts around the close schedule; and ensure that all required financial data is properly captured, reconciled, documented and disclosed.
  • Manage internal reporting responsibilities including ensuring a readiness for external reporting
  • Establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard global accounting processes and procedures that result in efficient and effective month-end consolidation and close process.
  • Coordinate with the external auditors for completion of reviews & audits.
  • Implement technology/process improvements when pertinent
  • Build relationships with the functional leaders of the Company.
  • Review, understanding, and compliance with ArcherDX HIPAA Security policies and procedures.
  • Safeguarding the privacy and security of protected health information and European Union personal data.
  • Processing and handling of European Union personal data only as directed by ArcherDX for purposes of personalized molecular pathology.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting & CPA required
  • 8-10 years accounting experience, including some Public Accounting Experience (Big 4 or National Firms preferred)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years supervisory experience leading a team
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, with expertise in revenue recognition, accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Knowledge and experience with Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
  • Experience in implementing MRP and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven track record of hands on involvement in developing and implementing accounting/business controls and policies.
  • Experience in life sciences, including clinical, manufacturing and commercial operations.
  • Experienced and comfortable in rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong team player with a proactive personality.
  • Uses good judgment and demonstrates a sense of appropriateness
  • Considers the consequences of personal actions and decisions; reflects upon and learns from experience.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute on strategy.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and be capable of articulating the Company’s financial strategies and results.
  • Must have the ability and strong desire to “make things happen”.

  • Must have the highest personal values and ethical standards

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of BA/BS in Accounting
  • Must also be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
