The Role:

Sunday is looking for a proven and motivated VP of Engineering to improve and deliver on our mission to help people grow. As a leader with a focus on building and managing highly productive software engineering teams, you will empower our teams to deliver products that achieve company objectives. You are eager to collaborate with internal stakeholders and motivate your team to serve and create cutting-edge experiences for our customers. 

You will lead a team of highly skilled engineers across disciplines, work closely with Product, and invest in technology to ensure we are building the best experiences for our customers. 

The right person is a leader that instills a high standard of technical excellence and reliability, inspires their team to think outside of the box, and contributes to the overall success of Engineering and Sunday. 

How You Can Make an Impact:

• Set the vision and direction for how technology will be leveraged at Sunday to grow our digital footprint and continuously innovate on our customer experience
• Build engineering teams, enabling other engineering leaders to guide technical direction, and partnering with product management to define overall strategy
• As a member of the executive team, formulate broad organizational goals and understand how to align your team and department objectives 
• Partner closely with the VP of Product to develop the vision for our product offering and ensure that the software architecture is designed for the near and long term
• Build credibility with engineers, lead technical reviews and discussions, ensure best practices are developed and enforced, and advocate for the needs of the engineers 
• Create timelines and budget for the development, timely delivery, and deployment of all large scale engineering initiatives 
• Evaluate technology and vendors, always looking for ways to improve the way we build products 
• Be a steward of the Sunday culture: exemplify our core values and maintain an inclusive environment within and beyond the engineering team

Things About You:

• Significant experience as a technology leader in a growth-minded organization: You know what it takes to both scale and sustain high performing teams
• Vision & Direction: You have experience leading an organization and understand how to build roadmaps that directly contribute to the success of company objectives
• Experience leading and growing early stage teams & platforms that deliver innovative solutions to create lasting business value, ideally in Ecommerce or subscription companies 
• A problem solver, able to balance competing priorities, strong process orientation and ability to manage through complexity and rapid change
• Excellent managerial skills and interpersonal skills: You can effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering and interact and work with staff at all levels
• Influence: You build strong relationships through your expertise and align your team and stakeholders to what’s best for Sunday
• Deep understanding of software engineering and architecture - you’ve been a developer in the past but are focused on leadership now 
• Demonstrated experience working with geographically dispersed teams
