Technical Manager – Java Software Development Manager

As the Denver Tech Manager, you will be entrusted with the design and development of web-based products that delight our clients and scale out to millions of users. Your responsibilities include leading multiple high performing teams to take products and features from inception through agile development and into our client’s and their employee's hands. The best candidates will draw on extensive knowledge and experience of managing IT professionals (at all levels) within the organization, driving quality and focus within respective teams and effectively communicating with leadership. The successful individual thrives in an innovative, fast-paced environment, can roll up their sleeves, work hard, have fun, and get the job done.

The Gig:

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members on multiple teams
  • Leadership responsibilities for an Agile Product Delivery / Continuous Integration / DevOps – centric IT organization. Direct leadership of Java Engineers and Tech Leads.
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; and following up on work results.
  • Manage and maintain staff levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. 
  • Manage and maintain staff job results by planning, monitoring, appraising job results, counseling, and executing performance management plans.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other business stakeholders to create high-level design concepts
  • Innovative new design and analysis of enhancements 
  • Deliver code based on commitments
  • Actively participate in discussions, coding, and testing.
  • Develop core web application changes using JAVA and XSL
  • Test and document coding changes
  • Present application enhancements to team
  • Manage workload daily to deliver on sprint commitments
  • Communicate design strategy that will achieve business goals of the user story while ensuring technical integrity
  • Creative thinking and proposing solutions to grow our business by delighting our clients.

What you need to make the cut:

  • BS in Computer Science, MIS, or Computer Engineering
  • Master Degree (MBA, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields) preferred.
  • Extensive Agile Delivery experience
  • 10 - 12+ years’ experience with Large Scale Enterprise Development
  • Previous experience (5+ years) leading software engineering teams
  • Extensive knowledge of JAVA, SQL, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, Object Oriented programming and relational databases (Oracle)
  • Experience with LINUX, Eclipse IDE, GIT, JIRA, Agile Development Methodology, and XSL is a plus
  • Previous exposure to user interface development (Bootstrap, JQuery, React native) or JasperSoft iReports helpful.
  • Highly motivated, Innovative, self-directed thinker with an eagerness to stay up-to-date with current trends and a desire to impress.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with the Businessolver leadership team, the business and technical teams.
  • Experience within the following industries highly preferred – Benefits Administration, Information Technology, Software Product Development.
  • A knack for problem solving, in a fast paced, Agile environment.
