Position Title

Systems Engineer

KG Lewis is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to provide advanced technical support for a variety of networked systems throughout the organization. Work includes installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting of a wide variety of operating systems, networking hardware, software and peripherals. Work involves total configuration and support of systems and services infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Administers physical and virtual server environments, including VMWare, Linux, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
• Installs, configures, maintains, upgrades, troubleshoots and repairs enterprise systems hardware and peripherals, including disk arrays, fibre switches and NAS devices.
• Administers Active Directory including installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades of components such as DNS, DHCP and domain controllers.
• Administers Exchange 2010 e-mail server.
• Works with software development team to deploy, maintain and troubleshoot custom applications on IIS and/or Apache web servers.
• Works with other IT organizations to support 3rd party COTS applications.
• Uses Customer Service Call ticketing software to manage incoming work requests and track progress.
• Assists with specifications and the development of RFP information.
• Recommends and is responsible for drafting, reviewing and updating standards for technology issues and enterprise equipment.
• Researches, tests and implements enterprise technologies and products and makes recommendations for new product purchases. Analyzes needs for system purchases according to project plans and standards.
• Remains abreast of industry standards and trends.
• Trains other IT staff on enterprise systems and equipment; may serve as the expert on such matters.
• Interacts closely with desktop staff and assists with diagnoses as needed, develops desktop troubleshooting checklists and assists with gathering information for help desk databases.
• Uses systems and network management tools to gather hardware and software inventories and to install software and to remotely manage enterprise and networking systems.
• Programs and configures enterprise equipment including server Operating System, system and security monitoring, print server and printer configurations, Active Directory, Web servers, DNS/DHCP, etc.
• May work with third party contractors as needed in support of timely responses to issues within the Enterprise Services area.
• Provides system level and batch programming as needed.
• Provides backup solutions, strategies and disaster recovery capabilities for enterprise systems.
• Performs other duties as required.

Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Attributes:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of direct, hands-on experience with installing, supporting, troubleshooting and maintaining enterprise systems in a large, multi-user, multi-application environment. Must have experience with virtualization technologies, network monitoring, performance tuning, network security and resource utilization.
• Must possess an understanding of Network concepts including switches, subnets, VLANs.
• Must possess strong analytical skills.
• Knowledge of help desk software.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, staff and contractors.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements above.
• Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, physical examination, drug screen and motor vehicle record check.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License, Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification, or have the ability to successfully obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
