Due to our success and continued growth, we are currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer as an individual contributor for our RAster Products Inovation and Delivery (RAPID) directorate. The successful candidate will have experience with large, complex systems, and is expected to leverage their experience to quickly learn all aspects of our imagery production ground system. This includes discovery and ordering, image processing, data management, quality control, web hosting, and distribution. Within our Agile hierarchy of Initiatives, Capabilities, Features, and User Storeis, RAPID Systems Engineers are responsible for taking ownership of Capabilities and Features - beginning with analysis of business requirements, through Feature definition and acceptance, and finally, with scum team implementation support.

Responsibilities

•    Fully support the Agile Software Development Life Cycle process used to facilitate system baseline changes.
•    Ensure quality by managing Feature-level acceptance criteria, providing traceability to design artiifacts, system-level test cases, and operational training material.
•    Work directly with other systems engineers, program managers, R&D, scrum teams, and customers to effect an optimal system design implementation.
•    Create functional flows diagrams with the ability to frame all requirements inside those flows.
•    Work directly with internal software development teams as well as 3rd party software vendors.
•    Maintain as-built design artifacts for system services to ensure engineering models and documentation remain current.
•    Endeaver to continually learn about our evolving complex system; work toward becoming a Subject Matter Expert and/or scrum team Product Owner.
•    Make contributions to the vision of the RAPID architecture roadmap.
•    Work with multidisciplinary teams, take ownership of deliverables, and drive assigned tasks to completion.
•    Lead design sessions with internal clients - from end users to the back office, with an emphasis on the Ground Station’s geospatial production segment.
•    Manage client expectations to ensure realistic timetables and deliverables, and then exceed those expectations.
•    Pursue and resolve project challenges, and product-related issues independently.
•    Willing to take on other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or any related STEM discipline.
•    Minimum of 5 years GIS-related engineering or operations experience with increasing responsibilities. 
•    Must be proficient with system requirements management tools and processes.
•    Medium to extensive systems engineering and operations experience.
•    Working knowledge of Agile development principles and best practices.
•    Currently holds or able to obtain a US Government security clearance.
 

Preferred Qualifications
•    Medium to extensive systems engineering and operations experience.
•    Working knowledge of Agile development principles and best practices.
•    Knowledge of GIS tools, production systems, and imagery product operations.
•    Experienced working with Enterprise Architect, SysML, and fundamental Model-Based Systems Engineering. 
•    Previous experience in a complex product industry.
•    Experience in implementing software security standards is a plus.
•    Experience with instrumenting system performance metrics for system optimization and tuning.
•    Full knowledge of multiple development methodologies (Waterfall, Spiral, Scrum, Kanban/Agile).
•    Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) is a plus.
•    Service Oriented Architecture experience is a plus.
•    Cloud- based web services experience is a plus
•    Software development, test, and/or integration experience is a plus.
