Systems Engineer II
JOB SCOPE
Charter Communications' Video Systems Operations (Programming) team is looking for a Systems Engineer II (SEII) to support a large-scale hybrid infrastructure comprised of cloud, local and shared platform services, and hardware. The right individual will be self-motivated, highly accountable, possess an insatiable thirst for new technology, and thrive in a highly-matrixed organization where teamwork is not only necessary, but critical to the success of the business unit. The successful candidate will have some experience implementing projects of various size and have the desire to own planning, preparation, and implementation of tasks end-to-end. This team is a 24/7 operation and the individual will be expected to take part in the on-call rotation (this will sometimes include nights, weekends, and holidays). BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of technical work experience preferably in systems administration, operations, Dev Ops, or application support (although individuals with diverse backgrounds who are technically inclined are encouraged to apply as well).
- Must be able to work the following schedule: Monday thru Friday, 9PM to 8AM
ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Functional knowledge of databases, both SQL (MySQL, postgresql, Oracle) and NoSQL (redis, Cassandra), with the ability to conduct basic queries and troubleshooting.
- Some networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
- Working knowledge of Excel with some ability to manipulate data sets.
- Some knowledge of creating detailed documentation describing functionality and understanding of new and existing complex applications, or ability to learn.
- Knowledge of choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring, control and leading of the systems engineering process.
- Basic understanding of automation in an operations environment (e.g. test/validation workflows).
- Able to work in a team environment and work effectively with people with diverse technical skills
- Understanding of, or ability to learn, ticketing and software tools to support the current operations, such as Jira and AR Remedy.
- Basic understanding of Cloud systems such as AWS.
- Ability to use (or learn to use) tools such as Splunk and Kibana.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Some experience in technical writing and project management.
- Intermediate level problem solving, analytical and tactical problem solving skills.
- Production experience in an operations environment.
- Working knowledge of standards (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, TLS, SSH, SCP, SFTP, and XML) and files systems (Ext, ntfs, FAT,).
- Understanding of signal flow.
- Prior telecommunications experience specifically dealing with channels, lineups, and entitlements.
- Knowledge of product development life cycles.
- Knowledge of Bash/Python scripting.
- Basic knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and configure DAC or EC Controller devices and functions, and STB interoperability.

The pay for this position has a minimum of $73,100.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
