SYSTEMS ENGINEER

We deploy and manage multiple applications on multiple networks. We support developers of all types creating cutting edge (mostly web based) applications using PHP, Vue.js, Python, Java, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Apache, Nginx (and <insert esoteric language of choice here>). We’re a small team each of which offering our own expertise while collectively solving problems and learning from one another. We intend to expand the team to include someone who has a fundamental expertise in networking / linux administration / and a passion for security. We’ve recently been making the enterprise level migration from old static infrastructure to containerization and devops and CI/CD etc… all that goodness is what you can be a part of!
The ideal candidate must be hands-on, problem solving, and a fantastic communicator. Experience working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment is a must.
Required Experience (2 -> infinity years in as many as possible):
● Strong Linux knowledge -- you better not be someone who suggests disabling SELinux
● Managing web servers
● Has previously worked in a developer shop with custom code
● TCP/IP Networking and VPN/Firewall management
● Security mitigation / patch management
● DNS and SMTP management
● Experience with Ansible/Terraform or something equivalent
● Provisioning and maintaining AWS services
● Git & SVN workflows/recovery and continuous integration
● Strong understanding containerization and virtualization (especially docker)
You'll do great, if you have experience with...
● Working with 3rd party hosting providers to schedule maintenance & infrastructure changes.
● MySQL Databases (setup, replication, migration, clustering)
● Kubernetes experience
● VOIP devices and smartphones
● PHP (The more you can get your hands dirty understanding the app the better)
● Monitoring tools such as Nagios/Icinga
● All/Any of the services we run: MySQL, Solr, RabbitMQ, Apache, NGiNX, Tomcat, Elasticsearch, AWS Services (SQS,SNS,EC2... ), OpenResty, Spark, Airflow, memcache, redis, and whatever’s next!
● SSL, lets encrypt, certbot
