We are looking for a strong electrical or mechanical engineer to help Viewray execute on its growing order backlog by providing technical engineering support to installation teams and driving special projects. The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation and demonstrate capabilities as a successful project manager.
This position will report to the Director of Manufacture Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Propose, design and implement sustaining engineering initiatives to improve product reliability and cost structure.
- Work closely with a cross-functional team to facilitate engineering, quality, and site planning improvements through tiered management and day-to-day support.
- Accurately manage multi-level bills of materials for product tooling through purchasing, inventory, and product life-cycle management systems. Continuously develop and improve tooling to match product development, installation, and end-user needs.
- Support internal engineering for management of global contract manufacturers of Viewray’s products, including implementation of change orders, deviation requests, non-conformance issues etc.
- Contribute to the optimization of the ViewRay field installation process by driving initiatives to improve quality.
- Test and troubleshoot electromechanical systems, implement defect resolution and corrective action
- Drive constant improvements in design and process engineering documentation for Viewray’s products.
Education, Experience, Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Biomedical Engineering.
- EE and/or ME experience designing and troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical assemblies scalable for low volume production.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, pcb manufacture, electromechanical final assembly, and functional test.
- Strong CAD skills, Solidworks preferred. Knowledge of PLM systems like PTC Windchill or Arena is desirable.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering, design for manufacturing, and serviceability.
- Working level competence in a rigorous implementation of ISO 9001, with ISO 13485 preferred.
- Fundamental understanding of medical device design controls; experience working in the highly regulated FDA environment preferred.
- Excellent communication and program management skills.
- Possess dynamic, proactive, ambitious, “can do” attitude, strength of character, tenacity and credibility and able to create and respect strong working relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Previous experience with the installation of complex capital equipment.
