The Opportunity

DAT is looking for a Staff Software Engineer  to join our Engineering Team  in Denver CO or Beaverton OR.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be seen as a technical leader, responsible for working with other Staff and Principal engineers in promoting improvements and best practices in software development on your team and across DAT.  You will mentor other engineers on your team by participating in code reviews, design reviews and in pairing sessions. You will work alongside the team, developing full-stack features with them. The initial effort will be focused on building integration APIs with our 3rd party partners and you will assist in initiatives to migrate users from legacy systems to the DAT One Web user experience, but your responsibilities will eventually include broader exposure within the company.

What You’ll Do

  • A balanced blend of: hands on development, technical leadership, and mentoring
  • Work with other technical leaders, own, and help drive change across shared Front-End and NodeJS/GraphQL API repositories through the DAT Development Community of Practice
  • Work with a team to continue to migrate users to DAT’s core search business
  • Mentor software engineers utilizing proven design patterns and your experience building modern enterprise software
  • Work in an AWS environment for both prototyping of new technologies and deploying both front-end user experiences and NodeJS web services using existing CI/CD systems with GitHub Actions
  • Assist in the design of new APIs in both REST and GraphQL
  • Assist in event-based processing using Kafka streams
  • Assist in data storage using SQL and NoSQL technologies
  • Assist with the design and implementation of fully automated test suites
  • Work with the product and UX organizations in establishing business requirements

The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or other Technical Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
  • Experience developing in React or Angular
  • Deep understanding of JavaScript and Typescript
  • Understanding of GraphQL and Apollo technologies
  • Deep understanding and experience with both AWS server-based and serverless technologies (EC2, Docker, Kubernetes, S3, Lambda, etc).
  • Experience giving technical leadership to teams solving challenging problems
  • Ability to work on large tasks with minimal, if any, day to day oversight
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Deep understanding of design patterns and clean code practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $140,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
