What you will do at Markit Digital

The Authentication and API infrastructure team provides a platform and a set of tools that enables teams to develop APIs and authenticate with clients using industry standard authentication methods. 

As a systems engineer, you will be part of a skilled and versatile team working in a fast-paced environment and will be involved in designing and building highly leveraged systems as we expand our platform offering. Your job will be to  

  • Identify and resolve issues, as well as automate and improve repetitive processes.  

  • Drive prioritization of operational issues, and drive automation, design & scaling requirements in support of the wider organization. 

  • Build and support tools that would assist engineering and client delivery teams to better troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Authentication and APIs.  

  • Accelerate product development and assist in on time project deliveries by becoming a key part of our agile process. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Experience with Windows or Linux shell scripting environments (such as PowerShell, bash) 

  • Experience specifying, designing, and/or implementing system health, metric collection and performance monitoring using tools such as ELK, Prometheus, Grafana 

  • Working knowledge of configuration management systems such as Chef 

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience interacting with RESTful APIs and web services for application integration and automation 

  • Knowledge and proficiency in authentication standards such as OAuth2 & SAML 

  • Knowledge of container management and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Nomad 

  • Experience working with datastores like Cassandra, Redis, PostgreSQL

  • The ability to quickly shift priorities and adapt to change

  • Able to work quickly and productively in a fast-paced environment 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

 

Where we're going

Hot on the heels of moving our service oriented architecture to the cloud and automating our deployments and configurations, we're rolling out new tools to our stack like Angular, React, and Vue. We are always on the lookout for ways to make our sites more secure, scalable, and fast. We are continuing to explore our wealth of new data sources outside of the financial markets to pioneer new market spaces like virtual and augmented reality, content personalization, and data-driven visualization.
