Alteryx is searching for a Sr. Software Engineer-In-DB Backend. This position is remote-friendly.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help us enhance our core IP specifically our Alteryx In-DB capabilities, a fundamental piece of the Alteryx product suite which pushes execution of parts of an Alteryx workflow down into a target database. You are someone who loves knowing the intimate details of and developing in multiple languages, with a strong penchant for design.

Responsibilities

• Partners with Product Management and technical leadership in defining our In-DB roadmap including the feature and stories definitions (and related estimates) required to deliver it

• Takes on ownership of the more complex and fundamental technical design and development work

• Participates in code reviews for the engineers on your team, ensuring our delivery of clean, well-tested, and performant software

• Stewards quality and performance with a strong sense of accountability and ownership

• Fosters the growth of team members through informal mentoring and support

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with databases or data processing systems

• Experience in JavaScript and at least one additional language

• The desire to learn new programming languages as required

• 5+ years of systems design and development experience

• Strong knowledge of and experience with software design patterns

• Experience using Git and Git-based pipelines

• Experience mentoring and developing others

• Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Scala or C++

• Experience with Spark/Hadoop/Databricks/Snowflake

• Exposure & knowledge of Node.JS and RESTful API web services

• Docker, Kubernetes, deploying applications at scale

• Deep understanding and commitment to modern software engineering principles/processes (Agile, Lean, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement

Compensation:

Alteryx is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role in Redwood City, CA is $122,100 - $207,600. This position is also remote-friendly and, as such,

compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including bonus and stock grants.
