Altvia is looking for a strong Senior Software Developer/ Technical Lead to guide our software development teams through the architecture and implementation of product work. Responsibilities of this role include guiding teams to architectural decisions, acting as the technical sounding block during planning sessions, implementing solutions alongside the teams, and troubleshooting technical issues with the teams as needed. 

Organizationally, you’ll be supporting product work streams that will have one or more developers. You must be able to work well and get along with others, and have a strong focus on supporting your peers and our customers. You must also have a passion to help ensure high quality software to maintain the trust of our highly valued customers as well as have a strong desire for continuous improvement that pushes you to learn and become involved in how our software is developed.

Our products are all cloud-based, with a mixture of technologies that include Salesforce, Ruby on Rails, Typescript and React, with some of the applications hosted on Amazon AWS. Some of the tools we use include Slack and JIRA.

Technical Lead responsibilities include:

  • Review product requirements and collaborate with teams to develop new features
  • Mentor and support the technical growth of team members
  • Guide teams to architectural decisions
  • Work with product owner for sprint planning
  • Work with Director of Engineering to align on technical and architectural direction
  • This role does not involve people management, however you will be responsible for developing those around you and ensuring the execution of work on your team.

Technical Lead requirements are:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a software developer, preferably in Typescript or Node
  • A computer science or engineering background
  • Interested in being a full-stack developer with an area of expertise (backend/frontend)
  • Significant experience working in software development teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical understanding of SQL, HTML, CSS and general Web technologies
  • Strong architectural design skills
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum development principles
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing will be a bonus
  • Understands what it means to build scalable, secure, SaaS solutions.
  • Bonus if already have working knowledge of both front and back end systems and frameworks
  • Bonus if you have experience with roles and permissioning systems
  • Bonus if you have experience with ETLs, data marts, data visualization tools and report building tools
  • Bonus if you have a strong technical understanding of AWS, terraform, and DevOp practices
  • Bonus if you have a strong technical understanding of graph modeling
  • Is a self motivated life long learner with a passion for their field, and a desire to share their knowledge and experience with their team.

  • Believes that they are the best person to ensure the code they write is solid, tested, and ready for customer use.
  • Believes in automated (unit / integration) testing and is capable of writing tests that ensure their work is ready for customers no matter how long ago it was created.

  • Can adapt and adjust schedules with their team to ensure everyone is able to balance their work and personal lives while still nailing each delivery date.

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, in the range of $110,000-$140,000 annually, DOE.
