The DevOps Senior Manager will lead multiple teams of experienced automation engineers tasked with delivering the platforms and tools to enable our world class software engineering organization.

 

In this role, you will provide leadership to a team of over twenty automation engineers distributed between Broomfield, Colorado, various remote US locations, and Prague, Czech Republic. Your knowledge of DevOps transformations and distributed software development will guide the teams in providing developer enablement platforms and guiding the broader Product Engineering organization through our DevOps transformation.  You will leverage your strong relationship building and technical skills to set goals, priorities, and build consensus with product and engineering team members to deliver a developer experience that delights our internal customers.

 
Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • You will lead, inspire, and drive a talented team of automation engineering to build and source Alteryx’s developer enablement platforms and tools that will be foundational to the scaled build and delivery of our software products
  • You will help define the strategic vision and lifecycle of the developer enablement platforms and tools and use your deep industry knowledge to determine and achieve OKRs
  • You will work cross-functionally and help create alignment, consensus, and collaboration across Engineering, Product, Infosec, and IT
  • You will build the DevOps talent pipeline; coach, train, inspire, and grow the DevOps teams
  • You will present product roadmap and plans to internal and external executives
  • You will support the broader organization through our DevOps/Agile/Cloud transformation

 

Valued Experience:

  • You will have a broad mix of technology experience:
    • AWS/GCP/Azure/Cloud/On Premises Infrastructure
    • Config Management automation (e.g. Chef, Ansible), including both Windows & Linux
    • Containers, Kubernetes, Helm
    • Application Security/SAST/DAST
    • Software builds & deployments for desktop, server, PaaS, and SaaS products
    • Software Development/DevOps tools & pipelines utilizing those tools (e.g. Gitlab, Artifactory, Vault, Jenkins, etc.)

 

  • You are an experienced “leader of leaders” and have developed the skills required to be successful in delivering initiatives “at arm’s length” by building trust and empowering teams and individuals to deliver outstanding outcomes
  • You can create a vision to support corporate goals and initiatives and are adept at translating that vision into tactical initiatives to help achieve that vision
  • You have helped multiple organizations through DevOps/Cloud/Agile/Digital Transformations, specifically focused on supporting the transformation of engineers and other technical individuals
  • You have developed superior written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable speaking to audiences
  • You know how to make decisions with imperfect information, and you are comfortable communicating trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • You have a true player/coach mentality, with proven ability to inspire and lead team members; you are a continuous learner
  • You have built strong project management skills and can manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • You are a relationship builder, able and willing to build strong working relationships with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, other organizations, and third parties
  • You are curious, technical and want to understand how stuff works; you are passionate about building things.
