Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Sustainability Engineer – Thermal, BPNCA implements sustainability best practices, projects and training for the Ball Packaging plants in North & Central America. This role is tasked with successfully achieving divisional goals related to Sustainability Key Process Indicators (KPIs). The Sustainability Engineer – Thermal, BPNCA focuses on achieving-KPIs / executing-improvements in the Thermal Applications found in can-making operations. The Thermal improvements are focused on efficiency gains in Electricity, Natural Gas, Water and Waste-Generation processes. The Global Manager, Sustainability, Thermal has a dotted line connection to the Sustainability Engineer – Thermal, BPNCA and provides Standards, Best Practices, and Guidance.
Essential Responsible Areas:
- Identified as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with regards to Gas Trains, Natural Gas Controls, Alternative Heating Methods, and Thermal Applications that are either used or have the potential of being used in a Can-Making Plant.
- Understands / Implements the Global Standards that lead to the best-in-class Electricity, Natural Gas, Water and Waste-Generation.
- Supports Global Sustainability Engineering stakeholders in the pursuit and adoption of best-in-class Electricity, Natural Gas, Water and Waste-Generation Global Standards.
- Trains BPNCA Plant Employees on process steps and best practices with regards to the efficient use of Electricity, Natural Gas, Water and Waste-Generation.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge and utilization of Lean Six Sigma in all phases of the implementation of Electricity, Natural Gas, Water and Waste-Generation Global Standards.
- Develops / Plans capital projects that support the implementation of Electricity, Natural Gas, Water and Waste-Generation Global Standards.
- Converts guidance and data from Global Sustainability Engineering into Strategy and Action Plans for the BPNCA region.
- Collaborates with supply base to identify new sustainability technologies; feeding new information to the Global Sustainability Engineering group for consideration in the Global Standards.
Position Requirement & Competencies
- Broad training in a related field usually acquired through a college-level education or work-related experience.
- Job related experience for 5+ years minimum, including experience in packaging manufacturing.
- Knowledge of contracts and specifications.
- Excellent program/project management skills as demonstrated through the successful achievement of assigned objectives.
- Exhibited a developmental, entrepreneurial mind set with abstract analysis skills; applicant should be logical, flexible in approach.
- A demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically from a holistic thinking/systems perspective.
- Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and presentation skills, required.
- Financial literacy and business acumen with the ability to objectively assess projects and teams and meet cost, margin, and profitability targets.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Project.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Salary Range: $ 78,400 - 117,415 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- Other Compensation: This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
