At Apartment List, we build a marketplace between renters and apartments, which helps the renters explore, contact, and eventually sign a lease with the apartments that they would call home. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to join our product engineering team. Our full-stack engineering teams are passionate about solving real-world pain points and building great user experiences, across the web, iOS, and Android. We work closely with cross-functional partners across product, design, analytics, and growth.  Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for managing our mission driven teams of 20+ engineers and managers that are focused on renter & property experiences. 

Here’s what you’ll do as part of the team:

• Develop, drive and execute the long term product & technology strategy to enable the next level of growth for our renters and properties 
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and career growth opportunities for both engineering managers and individual contributors
• Collaborate with Product to make business trade-offs and give technology direction that leads to measurable business outcomes
• Recruit, Hire and mentor exceptional talent at the individual contributor & management level
• Establish a culture of accountability, transparency and learning and be a culture & process champion on the team and across the organization
• Collaborate and Communicate with executive & leadership teams, product, design and other cross functional teams
• Be an active member of the strategic decisions for metric driven goals and deliverables

Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be successful:

• 8+ years of experience managing teams & at least 4+ years of experience managing managers
• 10+ years of software development experience building consumer applications using web and native technologies. Consumer marketplace experience is a huge plus!
• Experience building products at scale, with an excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms
• Experience with agile development methodologies and leading a team through continuous delivery
• Strong people management skills, including the ability to coach and mentor engineers and managers of all skill levels
• Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred
