The Software and DevOps Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining deployment processes required to run R & D built services. The engineer will also be responsible for operational tasks throughout the alpha and beta lifecycle of the software and systems. Most of the services and systems are deployed and operated in Amazon Web Services (AWS) with heavy utilization of all applicable AWS services. The engineer will be responsible for building infrastructure as code processes. This position is in the R&D division and requires quick learning and understanding of new services and techniques. The engineer needs to be motivated and excited to work on many different aspects of an R&D software lifecycle. The CICD tools, techniques, and systems that are used presently include Jenkins, Kubernetes, AWS CodePipeline/Build, Docker, github, and artifactory.

Primary Job Responsibilities / Duties:

• Partner with Software Development team members for integration into CICD pipeline
• Partner with scientists to help minimize deployment friction transitioning Proof-of-Concepts prototypes to alpha and beta
• Administer and maintain the following
  • docker repository
  • source code repository (github)
  • R&D kubernetes cluster
  • Jenkins instance
• Monitor, debug, run alpha and beta level operational services and systems
• Document procedures and designs of deployment and operations
• Assist in the development of infrastructure and deployment code
• Communicate with the greater enterprise to transfer knowledge of new cutting edge concepts utilized in AWS

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other applicable technical education. This includes information systems, information technologies, and other engineering disciplines
• Expert in gihub or similar source code versioning platform
• Expert in source code build management tools
• Experience in containerized software paradigms (preferred Docker experience)
• Experience in cloud computing
• US Citizenship.

Preferred Requirements:

• Expert working in AWS.
• Expert working with Jenkins
• Software development experience in Python, Java, C++.
• Experience in GIS
• Experience with satellite imagery
