The SALT Lending platform is a unique integration of legacy programming languages and platforms with new ones that barely have a tutorial written. As such, on the one hand, we are looking for a seasoned professional who can deliver clean and efficient code according to established standards. On the other hand, we are looking for a pioneer – someone who enjoys living at the frontier and is not afraid to challenge existing practices and techniques.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead SALT in developing their DevOps systems and practices
- Advise on architecture and approach
- Participate in daily scrum meetings
- Develop continuous delivery / deployment processes
- Architect and implement stacks in AWS for cost, security, performance, availability and automation
- Mentor software engineers so they can continue to grow and succeed
- Advance software to our standards so we can support it
- Includes monitoring tools, configuration management, availability, data protection, security, service management
- Design operations run books
- Serve as an oncall resource
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Contribute to DevOps Tools and Cloud Services roadmaps
- Prioritize new services / features
- Investigate new technology
- Provide feedback in service readiness reviews
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in IT or application development
- Minimum of two years of experience with AWS
- Minimum of one-year experience in a DevOps role
- Demonstrated expertise in network design and security best practices
- Linux system administration and scripting skills, such as shell (bash), Python
- Configuration management tooling such as CloudFormation, Puppet or Chef
- Application operations, including Incident Management, Change Management, Security Management and Capacity Management
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including mentoring others
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Strong track record of learning new technology independently
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience with cost optimization on AWS
- Administration of Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
- Administration of CDNs, such as CloudFront
- Continuous Integration tooling such as CodeBuild/CodePipeline, and development tooling, including Jira and Git
- SAML integration and Active Directory / LDAP
- REST based web services programming
- AWS SDK experience
- RDBMS DB experience
- Splunk experience
- Developing and supporting shared services
- Understanding of SW development lifecycle / agile processes
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
