Overview

How will you make a difference?
- Responsible for process and technical oversight on software development and test team
- Collaborate with Product Managers, System Engineers and Program Managers, coordinate with other SW and HW Engineering teams, Operations, Technical Support and other cross functional teams
- Oversee designs and review development activities; ensure designs and the product align with the requirements and specifications
- Manage all areas of embedded software development in an Agile Scrum environment: requirements analysis, design and implementation, system testing and maintenance
- Ensure adherence to FAA safety compliance, AS9100 and company policy and procedure
- Responsible for oversight of development to high level requirements and low level design documentation for the system in the avionics environment
- Oversight for the following
- Software development/test milestones and deliveries
- Software coding standards, code inspections, unit test coverage
- Software configuration management
- System performance tuning and analysis
- Delegation and support of sustaining tasks/activities
- New software technologies evaluation, analysis and documentation
- Work with Senior Management and staff to accomplish business goals, develop standards, best practices, and technical processes
- Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development
- Responsible for your staff and their success and for the success of the group as a whole
Qualifications
- BS or MS Degree in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in the development and delivery of software, of which 5+ years of management experience as a Software Engineering Manager developing software preferably in avionics, data communications, telecommunications or media server-type systems
Required experience, Skills and talents
- History of coding in C, Java, C++, Python or similar languages
- Experience with development and deployment in Linux environments
- Familiarity with stand-alone embedded hardware systems and experience managing an embedded software team
- Expertise with Agile Scrum development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Able to multi-task and manage several projects
- Strong people skills
- Experience with software design in data communication, SNMP, telecommunication network protocols and internet application technologies including HTML, XML, networking, firewall applications, web server configurations, internet application architectures based on VOIP & SIP technology and Internet security
- Excels in influencing leaders and cross functional teams
Desirable Experience, Skills and Talents
- Work experience in avionics / aviation industry
- Experience developing embedded data communication or telecom software systems that integrate open source from the ground up would be a plus
- Testing and test automation: Python, Selenium
- Product Life Cycle management tools like Agile PLM
- VersionOne (or the like), Confluence Wiki, Jenkins, JFrog, GitLab
- SAFe
- Experience with or knowledge of
- AWS
- VMs/Docker/Kubernetes
- Software security best practices
- RDBMs/Time Series DBs
- DO-178c certification
- PBX systems
- Wi-Fi access points & cellular modem technologies
- Fault management and correlation systems
- Media servers
- E ARINC protocols a plus

Colorado Equal Pay Statement: Disclosure required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role to be located in the state of Colorado.
Base Pay:
124,800.00 - 156,000.00 USD Annual
Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:
Bonus Plan at 15% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
