WHAT WE HOPE FOR YOU...

As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be a manager who leads by example. Your leadership views can be best described as "supported autonomy" - you support and get in the weeds with your team, as necessary, but know when to empower them to be the best version of themselves. As the Engineering Manager, you will bring a variety of development methodologies and understanding of multiple web and mobile engineering languages and frameworks to provide collaboration and continued learning. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...

  • Facilitate and participate in product development discussions and maps functional requirements to a well engineered design and project schedule.
  • Lead technical discussions with team members to agree on product scope and delivery schedules
  • Review and write detailed architecture and design documentation to track delivery schedule and related dependencies
  • Communicate with internal and external teams and stakeholders on various aspects of Maxwell’s products and solutions
  • Be accountable for the quality of software engineered architecture design and code produced by software engineers on your team
  • Jump in and assist with code review and architecture design if team needs additional assistance, if applicable
  • Grow the team by hiring great engineers and providing mentorship, where required

IDEALLY YOU'LL HAVE...

  • 5+ years experience leading Engineering teams, specifically within architecting, designing, and developing enterprise-grade software
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, DevOps (CI/CD tools and technologies) and standard software development methodologies.
  • Very good understanding of multiple web and mobile software engineering languages and frameworks. 
  • Experience with both front-end and back-end web technologies: Ruby on rails, React, Redux, Javascript, HTML 5, CSS 3, Postgres, Redis, Memcache is a bonus
  • A solid understanding of Quality Assurance testing methodologies in addition to available frameworks
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, compliance, open-source technologies and frameworks.
  • Experience with service oriented architecture, REST based services and orchestration of APIs for web and mobile applications.
  • Experience with Heroku, AWS services, and Cloudflare is a bonus
  • Ability to communicate with senior executives within the IS&T organization and in business functions

Compensation Range: $144K-$170K
