Software Engineering Manager
Ibotta’s engineering team is growing and we’re looking for an additional Software Engineering Manager to lead our team in building something great while influencing stability and quality of the technology. At Ibotta, our engineering team is organized cross-functionally by squads that work on a variety of solutions for the company, including the platform powering our app that is used by millions of consumers. We’re looking for a manager that is inspired by mentoring a talented group of world-class engineers and acting as a technical coach when needed.
Here is what you’ll be doing:
- Champions engineering & maintenance work
- Owns part of the Product Inventory and is responsible for support and maintenance of that inventory
- Manages on-call rotation
- Responsible for submitting Software Capitalization and utilizes Squad Leads to categorize issues accordingly
- Coordinates engineering meetings as needed to ensure alignment on standards and processes
- Partners effectively with product
- To manage scope, resourcing and deliverables of projects
- To manage ad-hoc requests
- To prioritize medium to large stewardship initiatives
- Sets clear expectations for team members; solicits, synthesizes and delivers feedback
- Works closely with the internal recruiter to identify and hire top talent for the team
- Proactively identifies and clears roadblocks for the squad
- Promotes and maintains a healthy engineering culture
Here is what we’re looking for:
- 2+ years of engineering management experience, or 2+ years of proven tech leadership experience with the eagerness to take on more in the realm of team building
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Understands and has practiced agile software development and management
- Has had exposure to multiple languages and frameworks as either an engineer or manager
- Comfortable managing team members with different skill sets and technical areas of focus
- Motivated by a fast paced environment while encompassing our key behaviors including proposing creative solutions, winning as a team, and adapting well to change
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication
- Experience working in a cloud infrastructure and mobile first setting is a great extra!
