Spark is a venture-backed startup with the ambitious goal of disrupting a stale industry. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our 25 person (and growing) team. Our ideal candidate has extensive experience with Javascript, architecture, and mobile apps.

You will collaborate with our other Software Engineer, extending the technical architecture and interface needed to realize the customer experience we’re designing. You will work together to problem solve across functional areas, and engage directly with the customer to constantly improve our product. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Extend and improve our architecture to seamlessly integrate across our Shopify Plus online store, our React-Native mobile App, and a variety of 3rd party solutions that plug into those platforms. 
• Develop UI from scratch in modern frameworks like React, React Native & Vue.
• Develop CMS capable UI in Shopify themes using Liquid & ES6.
• Work within Google Cloud functions to produce scalable databases with Cloud Function capabilities. We use a serverless architecture. 
• Integrate different pieces of our architecture for a cohesive experience while preserving modularity and interoperability between in-house and 3rd party systems. 
• Focus on the front-end experience we’re delivering, but navigate down and across the stack when necessary to get context to design balanced, scalable solutions. 
• Work with our firmware team to define where hardware/software needs to mesh seamlessly across the user experience. 
• Collaborate with our design team to find appropriate user interface solutions to complicated tasks, while maintaining a delightful user experience.
• With marketing, understand our business goals and where we can experiment/optimize products to support those goals.
• With support, dig into how customers are experiencing the product and where we can improve. 
• With product, balance limited resources against tight timelines and a high bar to focus our approach on what’s most important. 
• Help us inspire people to connect with others through the act of cooking outside more.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least five years of technical experience working on back-end software with a consumer focus. 
• Advanced understanding of Javascript and front-end frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Experience with Node.js and NoSQL Databases.
• Direct experience building and integrating full-stack software solutions, especially in e-commerce. 
• Enthusiasm for working cross-functionally with designers, marketers, support, ops, and other engineers. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
