How you'll make an impact
Xero's accounting and bookkeeping partners are a hugely important part of our business. At the heart of each accounting practice is the systems that support and drive making the practice's clients successful through efficient and effective tax and financial compliance.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on a team of Denver based Xeros that create value for our partners by building and enhancing the tools that make the magic happen. You will build our workpapers product, ensuring the right things are built at the right time and through doing so you'll contribute to Xero achieving its goals.
You'll be responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, promoting and tailoring our platform so that make small businesses more effective.
What you'll do
- Engage with product owner to interpret user stories & breakdown into tasks
- Deliver demonstrable code every sprint with a tight focus on end delivery
- Write test automation & deployment scripts for continuous delivery from coding to production
- Work with architects to design new components and systems
- Design and implement ways to deliver data products, collaborating with data scientists
- Collaborate with other product teams across time zones as necessary
- Contribute to DevOps tasks
- Push the boundaries by introducing new technologies, ideas, and patents
Success looks like
- Contribute to the initial specifications, user stories and/or design of new or improved features, working with Analysts, Designers and Product Owners
- Well managed execution with effective sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos
- Delivering quality code into production with a relentless focus on increasing productivity
- Code is delivered and deployed via continuous delivery
- New components and systems are not over designed yet reasonably future proof
- Code is well supported, continually enhanced and fixed as necessary
- Effective relationships with primary and tertiary product and technology teams
- Respect and appreciation from internal/ external customers for a professionalism & competencies
- Constant learning demonstrated in increased productivity, and thought leadership

- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Experience in developing web-based applications
- Knowledge of all of the following
- C#, JavaScript, CSS, HTML
- SQL Server
- AWS knowledge is a plus
- Experience in writing testable code & test automation
- Delivering projects from inception to launch
