The Impact You'll Have

We're swimming in data, terabytes of it, and we need a few smart, versatile software engineers to help us solve the most pressing challenges in the email industry. For example, we process data from 100+ million email messages every day, and build useful products powered by all that data. If you love solving complex problems in a simple way, you have solid programming skills and you are passionate about achieving meaningful business results, then you may be the right fit as a Software Engineer at Return Path.

You will be collaborating with other Engineers, Product Managers, and Data Scientists in this role. You will be working with a remote and distributed team and should have great verbal and written communication skills. We primarily use Go and Scala although there are others you'll encounter.
What does it take to be successful in this role?

  • Mid-level backend software development experience (2+ years)
  • We use Go, Scala, Postgres, and Snowflake
  • We require familiarity with Linux-based systems
  • We are heavy users of Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and AWS
  • You have an analytical mind and have worked with algorithms and data models
  • You have experience developing and maintaining distributed systems
  • You are interested in working on an Agile/lean team
  • You are self-motivated
  • You are curious and have a willingness to learn from your colleagues
  • Understanding secure coding standards is a huge plus
  • You have a passion for large volume data processing (MapReduce, Spark, etc)
  • You care about technology and are willing to contribute to Open Source projects

In addition to the above, you are a good fit if you demonstrate:

  • The desire for Personal/Professional Growth
  • Professionalism
  • Execution and Critical Thinking
  • A Positive Impact
  • Great sense of humor
