About the role

 

NetApp | SolidFire is looking for an experienced Software Engineer in Test who is passionate about testing and testability and uses that knowledge to develop innovative automated testing solutions for our state­ of­ the ­art storage solution. This is a high ­visibility role that will impact the fundamental performance of our new cloud storage product. 

As a Software Engineer in Test on our team you will work as part of a dynamic, fun and growing team responsible for participating in the development, testing and debugging of the software platform underpinning all of the SolidFire products. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, supportability, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development.

This position requires an individual to be creative, a quick learner, driven to produce results and demonstrates the ability to lead small teams or projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive test effort from planning and organization to execution and delivery
  • Participate in developing effective test strategies
  • Design and develop reliable, scalable and maintainable test automation to validate complex storage features
  • Communicate and collaborate with the engineering teams to develop automation processes and plans 
  • Diagnose, debug and perform root­ cause analysis of issues and defects

 

 

 

About you

 

You have:

  • Ability to design and develop features and provide automated tests for the same, leveraging advanced expertise in Python and shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of design patterns and experience in building good solutions.
  • Successfully completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
  • Ability to participate in and drive technical discussions with your team and other cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in technical discussions with groups within and outside immediate Business Units to create business synergy within NetApp and across Linux industry.
  • Ability to come up with and execute on initiatives that will contribute towards NetApp’s business goals, as well as establish NetApp’s industrial leadership.
  • Mentor junior engineers within surrounding functional units.
  • Proficiency in product development and support within a Linux environment.
  • Experience with at least one hypervisor technology is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct performance analysis and optimization for features and systems.
  • Ability to provide remote and onsite support to NetApp high profile customer field issues involving Linux (and its derivative) device and HBA drivers as part of the solution.

  • Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of people.

 

 

 

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
