Job Description

About the team:
The Ecommerce Platform is our core credit card transaction processing system that is developed and supported by many teams but none more critical than the Network Mandates team. The team consists of teams onshore and offshore that split up the required workload and support each other's efforts to keep our platform running efficiently and in line with the latest credit card scheme compliance rules.
What you will be doing:
The role for a Network Mandates engineer is to collaborate with all the stakeholders and comprehend the latest credit card scheme rules and implement those that impact our platform in alignment with the bi-annual go live dates. The teams focus is delivering these changes in-line with the credit card schemes expectations and without impacting our merchant transaction processing.
• Design, develop, and test software for scalability, reliability, and data recovery associated with a high-volume, high-availability platform
• Collaborate with other internal teams (Product, Platform, Merchant Services and Support) to convert business requirements into technical solutions
• Use Agile software techniques such as pair programming and test driven development to maximize productivity and quality
• Deploy new features into production with zero platform downtime and no impact to end customers who are currently processing
• Build domain expertise in e-commerce payments and apply engineering expertise to develop new product features
• Adheres to bi-annual Credit Card Brands release cycles by reading specifications and delivering the rules into our codebase. This includes certification, roll out and monitoring procedures.
• A "team focus" with strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to quickly grasp high-level business goals, derive requirements, and translate them into effective technical solutions
• Exceptional design and programming skills (Java preferred, but we are open to other Object-Oriented languages)
• Proficiency with SQL, relational data modelling, and basic database schema design
• Ability to solve architectural and system issues involving scalability, distributed systems, and relational databases
• Ability to fluidly change context and priorities based on changing business needs
• Penchant toward self-motivation. These words should describe you: dedicated, energetic, curious, conscientious, and flexible
• Development experience with a unit testing framework (JUnit and experience employing TDD preferred)
What you bring:
• A seasoned software engineer with in-depth full-stack development experience.
• Able to take projects from concept to implementation
• Owns end-to-end design of major initiatives
• Ability to multi-task and effectively keep various projects on schedule.
• Ability to refactor existing solutions to improve scalability, stability and maintainability
• We're looking for a strong hands-on cloud engineer. You will:
• Deploy software for scalability, reliability, and data recovery associated with a high volume, high availability platform
• Use Agile software techniques such as test-driven development to maximize productivity and quality
• Deploy new features into production with zero platform downtime and no impact to customers that are currently processing
• Build domain expertise in eCommerce payments and apply engineering expertise to develop new product features
• A Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
• Ability to design and configure infrastructure that responds to production KPIs and traffic (both expected and spikes), for example AWS Autoscaling groups and automated recovery, and security
• Maintain the level of reliability required from a high-volume, high-availability platform
• Ability to plan baseline and peak capacity to ensure economic service provision with a 5 9s expectation in Cloud environments
• Support deployment of new features into production with zero platform downtime and no impact to end customers that are currently processing
• Have a strong sense of team over self
• Practice continuous improvement, reducing waste in ways of working
Added bonus if you have:
• Experience with design and implementation of monitoring and responsive, self-healing resilient immutable platforms
• Knowledge of security tools including Qualys, WAF
• Knowledge of scalability levers in high volume, low latency transactional systems
• Experience with Java or Scala
• Proficiency with SQL, relational data modelling, and basic database schema design
• Experience with RDS, Postgres
• Experience with RESTful API design (HATEOAS)
• Experience with Maven, Gradle, SBT, Webpack, Grunt
