We are moving towards two-week sprints (Scrum/Kanban mix). Outside of standups and weekly sprint planning and retrospectives, we keep meetings to an absolute minimum to maximize development time.

Typical Sprints are composed of:Features (New or Enhancements), Bug fixes, Operational improvements.  Things that make Development and/or Operations better.

The ideal candidate for this position should be able to work full-stack, maintaining focus on the back-end systems side but able to work alongside the front-end team in JS/React and CSS.

We will thoroughly QA all things with integration and unit tests expected. You will coordinate with the team on project preparations; assist in developing project plans and proposals. You will assist in researching and recommending new technologies that enhance team performance, improve project delivery times and decrease development overhead.

Finally, you contribute to the team by collaboratively finding solutions to Impulsify’s toughest problems and establish a healthy development culture. You want to continue growing and want to help grow other team members through mentorship & hands-on guidance.

Responsibilities

• Acting as both an engineering team lead as well as rolling up your sleeves in a Player/Coach role, you will help keep the team on track to ensure deliverables are met on a timely basis with excellent quality.
•  Maintain and accelerate development velocity
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code that integrates well with the rest of the application
• Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic
• Develop, maintain, improve automated tests
• Maintain/develop Integration Gateways for a variety of Property Management Systems
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise elegant solutions
• Ensure cross browser functionality
• Make strategic technical decisions related to new products and functionality
• Help improve and maintain code quality and operational efficiency
• Onboard and mentor new team members

QUALIFICATIONS

The chosen candidate will have 

• 3+ years of professional web development
• 2+ years working in the Ruby on Rails framework
• Considered "Expert" in cloud and distributed services
• Cloud and distributed services "Expert" (AWS, Elasticsearch, Cloudflare)
• Experience with Postgres/SQL and REST/SOAP API's 
• HTML/CSS, JS,jQuery experience required
• RSpec and TDD/BDD, Cucumber desirable
• Git and Jira familiarity helpful  
• Strong problem-solving ability for creating, testing, and optimizing scalable algorithms
• Good communication skills. Whether it's interfacing with a client via email or working with an internal team, communication is paramount for our team's continued success

Successful experience with high-volume, public-facing production applications and performance testing
