Software Engineer – Junior-level C++ Developer

 

MBio Diagnostics of Boulder, CO (www.mbiodx.com) seeks a junior-level software engineer to develop medical device software for MBio products.  MBio is leading a new era in rapid, on-the-spot sample testing for diverse applications including human clinical diagnostics, food safety, and veterinary applications.  MBio’s core technology is a patent-protected planar waveguide system developed for fluorescence immunoassays, molecular diagnostics, and cell-based assays.  The candidate will join a small, fast-moving, multidisciplinary group focused on instrument and assay deliverables.  Working in a small company as part of the software development team, the Software Engineer will be expected to be self-motivated, creative, adapt quickly, wear many hats, and do whatever it takes to meet deadlines.  This position offers enormous growth potential to persons with high initiative, leadership potential, and proven records of technical accomplishment.

 

Job Duties:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Developing embedded software to be run on the MBio instrument in accordance with FDA and ISO software validation methods.
  • Writing, documenting, and reviewing C/C++ code to achieve published requirements/specifications.

The Software Engineer will be part of the MBio engineering team and will work closely with other MBio product development and manufacturing teams.

 

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of professional software development experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of object-oriented C++ programming

 

Desired Skills: No single candidate is expected to have demonstrated skill in all functions listed below, but strong preference will be given to candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Medical device experience (or similarly regulated field)
  • Understanding of software development/validation under IEC 62304 within an FDA QSR or ISO 13485 quality management system.
  • Experience working within a Linux development environment
  • Embedded platform development (particularly Yocto/Poky)
  • Gui development (particularly Qt)
  • Developing automated tests with an xUnit/mock framework
  • Network connectivity programming
  • Interconnectivity to a laboratory information management system (LIMS) using HL7 protocol
  • Software hardening techniques against cybersecurity attacks.
