Software Engineer II
Description
Essential Duties:
- Understands requirements, writes, and implements smaller stories within a feature.
- May write new code and fix defects under the supervision of the team.
- Codes web applications following specifications and using the appropriate tools. Follows best practices.
- Identifies and raises issues to manager’s attention.
- Adheres to IT Control Policies throughout design, development and testing.
- Works with team members to help review ideas, solutions, issues, and/or concerns. May sit in on cross-functional meetings and begins to interact with business partners to better understand their needs and wants.
- Applies AGILE concepts and works collaboratively and closely with QA in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Works closely with remote development teams to deliver complex solutions.
- Be familiar with the deployment and the SDLC process.
- Communicate and adhere to established change control documentation procedures.
- Have an understanding of cloud infrastructure or a willingness to learn.
- Be comfortable with evening work to support software releases.
- Have a strong understanding of version control software, merging, branching.
Competencies:
- Possesses knowledge of several technologies.
- May be able to identify and communicate alternative technologies and techniques.
- Able to work within an automated testing framework with limited oversight.
- Displays an ability to learn rapidly and quickly adapt to changing situations.
- Team player, contributes to team objectives, displays trust and mutual understanding, accepts constructive feedback, and handles confrontation constructively.
- Understands basic Agile methodologies.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- BS Degree in Computer Science
- Requires a minimum of 3 years of prior experience in software development
- Three plus of relevant programming language experience including Java
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- MBA preferred
- Prior experience working in an AGILE/SCRUM environment preferred.
- Experience in cloud technology
