We are a small team that emphasizes on moving fast and delivering impactful products through technical excellence. Our tech stack includes a highly scalable and available architecture, processing more than 10K API requests per second, to big data processing and data analytics with 1.5B events per day, as well as a web platform to make our data available to customers and provide them insights that will help their business thrive. The team is focused on building out the next generation of eCommerce products for affiliate marketing and content monetization to serve publishers on the Web. We use cutting-edge technologies and algorithms including advanced implementations of Cassandra, Kafka, Spark and Natural Language Processing (NLP), among many others.

About the Job

As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) I, you will empower Sovrn's development teams to solve complex challenges for our publishers by championing testability, code health, infrastructure, performance, and monitoring. You'll own the quality of Sovrn's Commerce products, and continue to write tests in the current architecture and implement test automation, tooling, deployment, and measurement frameworks. You'll learn complex systems and leave no stone unturned, from the React and Node.js rendering the UI to the Kafka streams and the data that is stored. Mostly, you'll be someone that gets it done, no matter what, and that's something you'll take pride in.

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Own the quality of Sovrn's commerce products, from the UI to the APIs and measure the performance and quality of the applications.
  • Writing and maintaining quality documentation.
  • Work in and improve our automated testing frameworks and internal tooling.
  • Create testing strategies that demonstrate a contextual understanding of Sovrn's products and their value to our publishers.
  • Advocate for best practices in testability, code health, infrastructure, and monitoring.
  • Providing testing insight to the engineers so that they are able to contribute to the overall quality of the application.

About You

You are very driven for success and are constantly asking, “What does this do?” You are extremely detail-oriented and learn from your mistakes. You hate silo'ing and frequently find yourself at someone else's desk asking questions or helping find solutions to a complex problem. You also have the thought process of, “If I have to do this more than once I’m going to automate it!”

The successful candidate will be: 

  • Able to develop within an architecture that is in place. The current framework is leveraging Cypress using JavaScript/Typescript. Develop within our current framework Cypress using Javascript/Typescript.
  • Enthusiasm for developing tooling and tests that proactively address ambiguous and non-deterministic problems.
  • Able to troubleshoot issues and predict challenges related to UI design and API calls. 
  • Prepared to demonstrate an opinion on when to apply software quality best practices and tooling.
  • Strong ability to articulate technical problems and solutions to fellow engineers and business stakeholders.

Bonus Points:

  • AWS experience
  • Understanding of how to test large amounts of data 
  • Performance testing experience
  • CI/CD knowledge

Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate compensation range for this role in Boulder, Colorado is $60,000 to $85,000, including base salary and any related bonuses or commissions. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills and certifications.
