Our Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for a variety of process and infrastructure initiatives, including platform maintenance and enhancements for Arturo’s product suites, automating existing pipelines to improve efficiency and long-term ecosystem health, performing software updates across our AWS platform, and ensuring that our products are performing as expected.

What you will do:

  • Ensure that Arturo’s apps and services are highly available, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Measure and monitor all performance metrics of our production systems: availability, latency, throughput, etc.
  • Take action during outages or performance degradations, solve the problem or escalate as appropriate.
  • Maintain and extend existing configuration management deployments
  • Perform software installations using existing infrastructure and configuration management tools
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to migrate existing deployment tools into a fully automated and managed process
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to extend and enhance existing CI/CD pipelines
  • Work directly with the DevOps team and software engineers to ensure system integrity
  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve telemetry gathering, reporting, and alerting
  • Work across the engineering team to prevent and eliminate recurring issues
  • Develop and maintain scripts/playbooks to improve internal processes and improve customer experience when problems occur

What you bring:

  • Two years in an SRE/DevOps role or related IT field
  • Strong Linux and Bash skillset
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Salt, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Familiarity with AWS (in particular EC2, S3, IAM, ECS, Lambda, and CloudWatch), CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)
  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with containerized systems in a cloud environment
  • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile development methodologies
  • Up-to-date on latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management

Nice to have:

  • Kubernetes experience
  • ELK or equivalent logging/monitoring stack
  • Experience with API management/interaction tools (Apigee, API Gateway, Postman)
  • Sonarqube or equivalent tool
  • Service Mesh experience

Being an international team member:

  • Arturo is a US-based company with a number of large customers in Australia. We are looking to build a small team in Australia to support our customer base
  • You will be employed as a contractor through an international company. We will negotiate an annual salary with you and you will be paid twice a month
  • You will report to a manager in the US
  • You could be required to occasionally travel to meet with your US counterparts. This is, of course, dependent on safety and travel restrictions
