Job Title: Staff Supplier Development Engineer
Location: Mountain View, California or Denver, Colorado
Job Summary
We are looking for a Staff Supplier Development Engineer with a proven track record of directing manufacturing partners to provide systems with world-class performance, reliability, and quality while zealously driving for cost reduction and maintaining on time delivery. The successful candidate will share our excitement in delivering our ground-breaking products for MRI guided Radiation Therapy in the fight against cancer.
This position will report to the Director, Supplier Engineering
Responsibilities
  • Lead Engineering management of ViewRay’s global contract manufacturers. Drive Suppliers to continuously improve manufacturing and business processes to achieve cost reduction and quality improvements
  • Lead new product introductions by managing DFM and Manufacturing FMEA reviews, BOM and manufacturing cost analyses, and delivering documentation packages for quotation.
  • Drive and manage roll out of change orders, resolve and reduce supplier deviation requests, and work with suppliers to identify root cause and corrective action for all NCR’s.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Engineering, and Quality teammates to leverage scorecards to drive the supplier to achieve continuous improvement against metrics.
  • Identify, qualify and develop new suppliers of major product subsystems 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to work directly with vendors.
Education, Experience, Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Excellent communication and program management skills. Experience with all phases of the Product Life Cycle Process
  • Experience working as a customer interfacing Program Manager at a major manufacturing operation
  • Experience as an engineer with CAD and GD&T. Solid technical understanding of PLM systems like Arena and PTC Windchill.
  • 7-10 years’ experience with increasing levels of responsibility in development or production engineering of formally released products in full scale production with preference for large capital equipment such as medical devices, semi-conductor, factory machinery, or instrumentation.
  • Experience and knowledge of as many as possible of the following areas of technology: electronics, machine or motor control, precision machining, brazing, welding, plastics, high vacuum, high voltage, r.f. and microwave devices, cryogenics, wiring.
  • Competence with reliability engineering and design for manufacturing and serviceability
  • Working level competence in a rigorous implementation of ISO 9001, with ISO 13485 preferred.
  • Possess dynamic, proactive, ambitious, “can do” attitude, strength of character, tenacity and credibility and able to create and respect strong working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Previous interest or experience in relevant methodologies such as Radiation Therapy and MRI is useful.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, at a variety of technical levels
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the diverse team in a fast-paced environment and with multiple projects
