RemoteLock™ is looking for that impressive combination of SQE, analytical thinker and test-automation expert to help us define and grow an enterprise-class quality assurance process for our product line of wired and wifi-enabled door locks and related web & mobile software.
A Day in the Life
This is a role where you will get your hands dirty, initially learning about our RemoteLock™ door security products and management/reporting software. You will develop test plans, execute them, log results, create automated regression tests, and generally take ownership of our quality control process. You’ll work closely with the development and support teams, lead by example and eventually manage internal and external QA resources. Your charisma and testing savvy will build confidence both inside and outside the organization.
Here are some specifics on exactly what your days might look like:
- Own the quality assurance efforts for the software and management/reporting related to our suite of wired and wireless door locks
- Create and execute test plans to verify that our products and services work as intended
- Record and manage test results in our defect-tracking software
- Create and execute automated regression tests as appropriate
- Suggest and implement improvements to our overall testing process
- Help identify UI/UX issues to improve overall product and software quality & customer satisfaction
- Work with development, product management and customer support teams to research and reproduce issues and create test cases for same
- Manage production deployments
If you meet the following requirements, we definitely want to hear from you:
8+ years work experience in software quality assurance with an ability to demonstrate the following traits and characteristics:
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Proven experience in test plan design and execution, including ad-hoc, regression and automated testing to verify that products work as intended
Strong experience in testing highly-available web and mobile consumer interfaces
Strong source code management experience, especially with Git/GitHub
Past leadership/management experience of QA staff
Ability to deal with multiple projects/deadlines and manage shifting priorities
Bonus points for experience with:
Amazon Web Services
Ruby/Rails/React
Sequel programming via command line or GUI access to SQL or MySQL databases
Testing of billing & reporting interfaces
HTTP API concepts & verification (JSON, OAuth, REST)
DevOps experience
TCP/IP wired and wireless networking concepts (Routing, DNS, SSH, general security knowledge)
OSX/Windows/Linux environments
Maintain the test lab / test environment and verify adherence to standards
