Senior Software Engineer
About Wunder
Wunder was founded with one simple vision: to address the greatest crisis of our generation by accelerating the proliferation of solar energy. Members of our team have raised hundreds of millions of dollars in private equity, developed innovative energy infrastructure solutions for the Department of Energy, and built digital products that are used and loved by millions of people. Now, we’re saving the world.
Our team is a unique hybrid of finance, engineering, design, and business development. Although our backgrounds and responsibilities vary wildly, we’re a tight-knit bunch that loves cross-pollination. And while our mission is big, we try to keep things light. We provide a happy, productive workplace, and we’re constantly improving it! You’ll find our hybrid team taking coffee walks or collaborating on Zoom to solve complex problems together, while also cycling, hiking, climbing, skiing, camping, and dining all over our mile-high home: Colorado.
Wunder is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive workplace in which all employees have an opportunity to participate and contribute to the success of the business. At Wunder, people are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives. Our commitment to equity is of course embodied in company policy, but it’s also evident every day in how we conduct business and the internal initiatives and programs we provide for our team.
The Role
At Wunder, we're building a team of high-performing, effective, and sophisticated engineers. We come from a wide range of backgrounds, but regardless of where we come from, we all agree that the most fun we've had as engineers is when we're working on challenging problems surrounded by peers who are as dependable as they are demanding.
With that in mind, we have an amazing opportunity for an experienced, intellectually curious, and creative Senior Software Engineer to join our fast-growing company. Like the rest of us, this person will wear many hats; you will work closely with our founders, solar partners, energy customers, and investors. Your role, broadly speaking, will be to solve problems and push renewable energy forward. Specifically, you will work alongside our talented team of engineers to bring automation to our solar development, risk evaluation, and loan servicing systems.
Your typical week might involve:
Writing, reviewing, and maintaining code primarily written in Ruby (Rails) and TypeScript (React).
Developing and maintaining our CI/CD pipeline which allows our team to rapidly deploy well-tested code to production multiple times per day.
Solving the complex problems inherent to our domain with our unique blend of Rails’ best practices, functional principles, and service-oriented design.
Working with our product team to identify high-leverage solutions to help Wunder achieve its mission.
Shaping our architectural philosophy and technical direction by exploring nascent technologies or problem spaces new to Wunder.
Enjoying unallocated, flexible time for deep work, collaboration, or attending to the important non-work aspects of life (the engineering team has 5 hours of “no meeting zone” per day).
Establishing the way in which our team and processes evolve as Wunder embarks on its next phase of rapid growth.
If you’re tired of making apps for teenagers’ phones and you get excited about writing code to power the renewable energy infrastructure of the future, then this is the role for you.
Technologies: Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, StimulusReflex, PostgreSQL, Heroku, AWS, CircleCI
Compensation: $195k - $215k/year + equity, based on experience
